View Full Version : Aik! My break fluid has solidified
Or so it seems, im looking at the front resevoir and the fluid is always at the same angle as if its now a solid. Im pretty sure this is not supposed to be, although my front break seems fine. Im guessing ill go visit a mechanic to sort it out, i dont mind fiddling, but im not gonna mess with the breaks :P
Might take the oppotunity to get the mechanic to fit some braided lines....

I'm going to go out on a limb here and bet you 10p that your brake fluid has not, in fact, solidified. Have you tried taking the cap off and giving it a poke?
You will probably find that the air bubble that you are looking at is trapped. If you take the top of the reservoir off you will see a rubber seal that has "shapes" formed into it. I would bet that the bubble is actually seated in one of the ridges. Either that or its full to the brim or completely empty. Seriously hope its not empty. As that would mean either you have a serious leak or your pads are seriously warn.

Sage advice indeed ;)
gawd blimeh you're right!

My advice is always street-level, none of your namby-pamby "Ooh, you might have worn out brake pads, do be careful!" nonsense :) If it doesn't end up in something expensive covered in either brake fluid, red-hot used engine oil, or sparks, I'm not interested.
But it turns out it was sage advice after all :) What are the odds?
What colour was it?
Should be nice and clear. I change mine every year as we all should.
its a yellowy/orange colour

Not too bad, change it before it goes brown.

Typical quote from a red;(sorry blue) blooded Scotsman as Spring approaches! Often works for me if you know what I mean? :? 8)
