just one more reason to buy an SV's
it's mad.
130quid tptf on a '98 speed triple 855
275 for my sv
all others for the sv/triple come up 700/1k ish
brand new SV
2500
2nd hand CBR (2002) value 5k
600
both tpft 21 no no claims. parked outside.
if it wasnt for the cheap quote for the CBR, id be an SV rider right now.
Thats what I paid for my k5 sv650s as a new rider with 0 no claims. Thought it was a good price. The SV is one of the best sporty bikes for newbies and insurance me thinks.
I'm gunna get meself a HAYABUSA
Why the hell is a CG125 more expensive !!

Mine was only 170 TPFT for my SV. Only just passed my test too so 0 no claims bons. Couldnt believe it. That's with AXA through direct choice.
Heh heh, I'm just going through this joy trying to insure the Blade.
On it's own, no NCB, Alarmed and garaged in Northampton = most places were quoting me from £500 to £1100 TPF&T.
Then the amazing happened - I got a quote through Direct Chioce and MCE, both citing Equity Red Star and the underwriter, both quoting for TPF&T multibike policies that included:
'99 SV650S, no alarm, garaged.
'98 ZX6R Ninja, alarmed, garaged.
'98 CBR900RR FireBlade, alarmed, garaged.
Direct Choice said £416
MCE said £1079
 :?:
There is some sense in the quotes. A CG or scooter is an easy target for the little ratboys to steal, and the superbikes get stolen to order, as there is a permanent market for racing engines, replacement bodywork ect. The SV is a middle ground bike, not so attractive to thieves, nor owned by users heavy on bodywork and engines.
If that's Direct Choice based in Newmarket, they are a very good brokers indeed.
They actually have staff that know what they're doing, especially in the claims dept, and the sales staff are not paid on commission so they won't sell you the the best product for them!
They also have a delegated authority from most insurers. If they like the sound of you on the phone, they can undercut the insurers premium quoted to get the business.
I work for an insurance company in the claims dept, and based on my working experiences with virtually all the big brokers, Direct Choice got my business for car and bike!
Third-party only though, so theft risk shouldn't be an issue. My guess is that it's due to the statistical nature of being involved in an accident, where the CG125 is disproportianately so due to being used as a learner/beginner bike.
I guess many 125s are affected similarly, especially "race-rep" 125s LOL like the NSR because of the number of boy racers riding them like loonies trying to be cool when they're actually hopeless at riding!

Everyone knows the insurance is the biggest legal money laundering operation out there
yea i reckon it goes on postcode and number of machines nicked.
Everyone knows the insurance is the biggest legal money laundering operation out there
I though the sweeping generalisation from those ignorant of insurance "that its the biggest legal money laundering operation " was what everyone really knew.
Perhaps you have no idea how much a claim costs these days?
I'm with Bennetts - because.....
I'm 46 BUT only had my full licence for three months. SV650S (SK1) - 3 yrs NCD - garaged to incl commuting - fully comp -£144 PA - Thats £2.76 per week !!! - now that cheap and includes puncture assistance - i know before you tell me BENNETTS dont let you ride other bikes - but I'm not likely to so that doesn't bother me.

How did you manage to get such a rotten quote for the Virago 125? :) I did mine whne I was still just on CBT, no NCB, no years of license, no garage, no clue basically, and it was still only £140 TPF&T... That was with breakdown cover, which was the best investment I think I ever made in my life :) And I always suspected my tasteful saddlebags pushed the quote up.

Yes I do, not as much as the billions of pounds the insurance companies have off us all each year to pay for insurance... They aren't charities you know
