If you have been visiting the main site you will see that John has updated the rideout section., I suggest you all read it if you haven't....

http://www.sv650.org/sv_rideout2005/index.htm

Some important points for the annual ride out….

We all want to have a good day out but please consider this as more of a social ride rather than a technical one, therefore DO NOT expect the pace to be "brisk". This will be the first large group rideout for many and we do not want to set the wrong expectations….

Groups
We are expecting a lot of bikes and will probably break everybody up into groups. It will be important for me to know how many in your group and your riding experience/standard. I would prefer to have groups who are familier with each others riding and of a similar standard, but I realise that cannot always be possible.

This will at least enable some of you who wish to ride at a higher pace to get yourselves out first and grouped together. (I am not condoning a free for all here, just trying to be practical.)

Marshals
We will need a number of "Marshals" on the day. This can be from assisting in the car park before hand to leading the groups. If you are an experienced group rider (especially leading) and are willing to lead a group on the day, then I would like to hear from you.

Route Plans
I have the route in Autoroute format available if anyone would like it. At this moment in time I have nominated Stowe as the break point. It's a nice town and has plenty of café's and coffee shops. But, it does get busy so please watch yourselves.
Details of the route are available from www.sv650.org and from www.urbanbiker.co.uk/svrideout

If you are going to attend, please answer the poll to give us some idea of the numbers turning up.

I have started a "Questions" post too, so if there is something you want to know, post it there first please.

Definately coming, with john and hopefully sythree, the group etiquette post john put on the rideout threadwas suggested by me, so if anybody take offence to it blame me, some of the points may seem like common senseand quite obvious but not every one is used to riding in groups.i can vouch for the fact thet a 4 cylinder has next to no engine braking having followed john on a couple of rides, and have found myself up behind him very quickly when he shuts off after an overtake and i followed, good job the cat has excellent brakes!!!. see you on the day, Daryl.

I'm definitely coming, probably two-up, unlikely to be camping - but might if the weather is good and there's space at the last minute.

I've got to work that Saturday morning so if I can make it it's going to be on the day or late Saturday.

I'm going to sit down with a map (OK, huddle in a cold-riddled sniffing heap on the floor with a blanket and a map) this afternoon and take a look at how to get there n stuff. Along with planning a little jaunt to Cromarty in Scotland later this summer too.

Depending on how good/bad my arrival route maybe will depend on whether I camp or make it a mega-ride-out for myself and do the whole lot on the Sunday!

Getting there is a breeze from Northampton.

Take the A43 to the M40 (J10), B430 to Middleton Stoney, pick up B4030 to Enstone. Turn South East on the A44 for a short run then turn right onto the B4022 and take that all the way to Charlbury. Then pick up the B4437 until it meets the A361 and follow that into Burford.

About 50 miles and I reckoon you can do it in just over the hour. Once you're off the A43 the roads are great.

I'll more than likely be travelling there on the sunday from Banbury which is kind of on the route (J10 M40) so if you want to, we can hook up for the final run into Burford. Quite a nice cross country blast of about 20 miles or so if my map reading skills are in order.

Will.

I shall be going from Stevenage on the Sunday morning via Luton, Dunstable, Aylesbury, Bicester and Oxford - about 70 or so miles if anyone cares.

Cool, sounds like a full-on Sunday run is in order then.

Now I have looked at a map it is a breeze - my knowledge of geography is crap, I kind of navigate by a combination of Zen and the homing sense of a pigeon.

This basically means I can't find my way around the town in which I live, but once I reach a critical distance from my own home I'm OK. I know where I'm going and end up getting there with minimum of fuss... just don't ask me how. If attempting to describe any route I have ever taken, all you'll get are some vague references to interesting trees, buildings (mostly pubs) and possibly a town name if you're really lucky.

I shall now be going to Scotland for a week in late June/early July having just sat and planned it.
Such planning consists of:

York
Edinburgh
Aberdeen
Cromarty
Fort William
Glasgow
Carlise
Sheffield

That's it. What happens in between those places I have no idea... and probably would n't be able to tell you when I get back... but I'll have lots of pretty pictures!

I have got my leave booked and confirmed now for this weekend...eventually...so i have bike will travel....

the only thing, i have not the foggiest idea where i am going to stay/camp...i see a small oversight in my plan

The main problem about camping is the lack of small camping equipment...it was not designed to be carried on a bike...and with staying in a lodge etc its about £50 for the night isnt it....i suppose i will have to do some research.

My folks live near Burford, so I'll probably cruise down on the Saturday, snooze at theirs and then pitch up for the Sunday rideout.

Look forward to meeting y'all then!
