ok so I have a 2002 SVS blue YC2 that need works on the pain.
I need to take the lower fairing, sand it and repaint it.

So I went to my GT car paint, .... that can match any paint if you have a color code.

I told him it was a Candy Grand Blue YC2 and the guy said that it was a tri coat color

need the code for the blue coat
then color code for the transparent
then the last one is clear coat, that's easy

so how can I get these color code?

I have my own spray gun so the problemn is just to get the same matching color as the original.

anyone ?

YC2 is the code for the paint, and thats it. If they are a good shop, then that is all they need. AFAIK there are not seperate codes for the base and colour coats :?

yep.
the clear coat is the laquer.
it is basically like a varnish. just protects it and adds a bit of shine.

Hi there
In a sense the paint shop is right YC2 Candy grand blue is a 3 coat system first the panels need painting in a high bright silver then the blue then just standard clear laquer over the top of this.

I think i have the mixing formula for both the ground coat silver and the blue somewhere if you would like me to post it up for you?

trouble is most car paint mixing shops dont really deal in bike paint and the bike paint codes dont mean alot to them as bike codes are not very specific.

hi

Ok i looked into it for you just found the formula basically the silver ground coat does not need mixing its a standard straight off the shelf silver, then you paint the blue then just get a good quality laquer to finish it off with a good shine.

I have done the formula in a word document and will sent it to your email addy in your profile let me know if you get it ok.

hope this helps

ok so I called 5 other shops in town and none of them can do ANYTHING with the YC2
I gave them the other codes I got above but nop, nothing.

all of the shops told me that they need a "PPG" or "PPJ" or a "Dupont" mix number....

where can I get that?
Is there a number for suzuki I can call where they would tell me that ?

Where are you located?

I went to "Nu-Agane" on Brace Street, Bedford and said "y9f please" and they looked at their little swatch things and sorted it straight away. I was shocked that it was that simple.

Flys committing mass suicide while the coats dried was another story....

Hi pinky
sorry they could not mix the paint even with the mix i sent you, my best mate is a paint mixer so he does all my paint and materials ect for me that being the reason i got the mixture he gave it to me with my paint for future reference.

His company only specialise in car paint and alot of paint shops dont have the info needed to mix up the paint mainly because it is not as readily available as car paint info.

As for the body shop telling you they need it as a PPG mix that is a PPG mix that i sent you they probably just dont want to use outside info to mix paint as then they cannot be held responsible for a correct colour match.

I have called back every single shop I could think of in town and even out of town.

Can one of you that got the paint matched and put in a spray can from a shop even out of town give me the shop number?
Maybe I can call them and ask them how they matched it and what they used, ....

This is depressing :)
