It looks like the 450 V Twin rumoured from Aprilia is going to be a reality! Now that could be very interesting? No doubt will not be able to compete for value for money with the SV but a smaller piece of exotica but attract a lot of buyers. 8) A suggested "look" for the bike can be found here:

Mmm... If that wee engine delivers what it should it'll be on a few christmas lists :) Don't see me chopping in the SV for it mind.

What do you think the service intervals will be like on a 450 twin thats putting out the same power as the SV!!!

An Italian one at that :) Probably same as the SV I reckon, though maybe with more work in the services...
I wonder if this is the start of the rebirth of the small mental bike? I'm sad to have missed the golden age of the crazy Jap 400cc or small-capacity stroker, all those beautiful tiny bikes... I'd love an RVF400RR, but no way am I buying a decade-old hooligan bike for those prices :)
Aprillia are also building a 550cc twin engine, based on their current 450 unit.
So it'll be 550/450 in a RS250 chassis, should be very good. 70BHP quoted seems a bit much tho, I reckon that's crank figures.

Claimed power's always crank with as many corrections as possible, on a cold day, anyway

isnt it the same engine they are using in their new supermoto?????
Supposed to be, we'll just have to wait and see.

Im gutted to have missed that age too, my dad had a suzuki GT750, which was a stroker.
A 750 2 stroke, imagine that nowadays, it would blow your socks off (at the very least)

well the bros has gone into retirement properly so perhaps this is my next minimoto :D
I want one.
I want an RS250 too.
And a Ducati 748R.
And a kenwood Smoothie Maker.
And a Nintendo DS.
My mum always used to say "want, want, never gets..."
I used to say "that's bad English mum".

Due to the Piaggio take over of Aprilia the whole company is in state of transition.Major projects on the new model side of things are going on right now, this curiously also involves a major collaboration with BMW.
A friend has a very good contact in Aprilia and he tells me that next year Aprilia will be launching some real kick ass bikes. In addition they are looking to address the poor back up and after sales issues that have plagued them worldwide.
All of this and many unfortunate tales have seen me allow my head to rule my heart for now.(Dont see the point in spending a lot of cash on a whole bunch of trouble...despite the looks and great ride when they are on song) Therefore I am NOT going to by a Mille until I know that the company have things sorted,(there is every chance an even newer Mille will appear next year)
I am now DEFINITELY going to buy a Ducati. My pal has a very good relationship with the guys in the dealership in Malaga and so next Friday we are going over there to chisel the +ss off them!
Smart buy would be the 749 and spend a few bob to make that baby howl and pull like a train. There is though a VERY well priced 2004 999 mono with just 5km on the clock that is catching my eye!
Will keep you posted guys! 8)
