I found out yesterday that the GSXR750 i was looking at buying is a Insurance Cat C write off..... how bloody gutted am i... so i am now looking around, but may be without a bike for a wee while.... after nearly being stung with that.. i want to make sure i get the exact bike i want... nothing less....

So i am now, without my beautiful SV, and less DJ equipement.

At least you found out before you bought it

Cat C isn't a bad thing really, as long as the bikes been repaired fully and the price reflects the cat C record then go for it, get a bargain. My SV was a cat C write off however it's excellent condition, decent bike with lots of money gone into it and was bought at a great price!

Would you trust someone who 'forgot' to mention it though?

If the seller was that dishonest, I wouldn't buy either, you don't know what else might be wrong with it.

Ahhh yes that's a bit different if they don't mention it.. as I say if it was stated and the price reflects it then there is nothing wrong with Cat C bikes.

Shame they didn't state it though and good luck finding another :)

Well BigApe has kindly agreed to view one for me in Newbury.... i would go myself, but it is a bit far, and i trust his view... if there is a fault, he will find it......

So when you read this, thanks you BigApe!!!

Are you trying to say that Big Ape can recognise crash damage at a hundred paces?

No, but I may at 0 paces, as that is how far I will be from it when I go to view it. And I think I know what to look for when looking for damage, I have had rather a lot of practise.

Will let you know the outcome and my thoughts tomorrow morning DJ

He has said you can have a test ride... but it would need to be in the week.... but if it is as clean as they say it is.... then i should think it will be cool....

Good idea to have BA check it out.
My eyes glaze over and I get a lump in my keks when I see a new ride.

Well i got the call this morning from the little monkey...

"I am standing looking at your prospective bike...and i gotta say.... it's mint... i can safely say, it has never been dropped or crashed"

or words to that effect...

GSXR750 Y reg blue and white (just so i blend in... but it is my fave colour for a gixxer) 4,030 miles, FSH, Meta alram/imob, full Yoshi tri-oval system.. everything else is standard.... £4500... they did say they may have gone to £4200, but they has others interested.. ploy or not.. i was not taking the chance.... so i agreed the 4500... and i get to test ride before i part with the cash... or if i cannot may ask BigApe to test ride for me.. don't worry Ape.. not going in there with my eye's closed... i will have one half open

So as i was told... I found a better one... nearly a grand more.... but not a cat c... and i need to do nothing to it.. (well maybe change a couple of things) ... but i found a mint bike...
