I'm looking into getting my lid re-sprayed, nothing too fancy, just an all silver job. I'd buy a new one but there's nothing wrong with my current helment except the colour.

Is this something that's easily done or is it difficult to do. My lids got a couple of tiny chips which could do with filling, plus I'd like a nice shiney finish like the original paint.

Any advice??

I wanted mine resprayed....

same colour as my bike... but i was told at various places that it damages the helmet and it's illegal to respray it

Have a word with Baldyman - I think he's just had his lid 'chromed' :D

illegal Seth?? surely not, people get fancy customised airbrushed jobs done all the time, surely all silver is the same? obviously you'd need to retain the kite mark and the gold stickers to keep it legal?

bviously you'd need to retain the kite mark and the gold stickers to keep it legal?
Why?

Repainting is perfectly legal. Some paints will damage the outer shell, though, so definitely talk to somebody who knows about the paints.
There are more than a few companies that specialise in painting helmets.
