Got a SV650S K5, 850miles.

Not a single problem until this afternoon!

Rode home the 13miles from work in heavy rain and its about 5 degrees C.

Got home & knocked down into first to get bike up the kerb, next thing the bike cuts out on me. Happens twice more!

Eventually get it up the drive & when idling the bike is chugging, not the usual smooth tick over noise.

Let the bike stand for an hour in the garage & it still struggles in tick over & cuts out when pulling away in first.

Anyone got any remedies???

Obviously something somewhere is wet!!!!!!!!

:? :? :?
:(

Thanks in advance.

I'd guess on the front cylinder plug being wet.

You 'll need to remove the front plug and spray it with wd40 (and the lead). Let it dry out and then reconnect and it should be working fine.

As a long term solution fit a front fender extender.

One would have expected Suzuki to have fixed that by now

Think the problem is the front plug, but due to the bracket which is fitted on the radiator (the one which holds the rubber flap) I am unable to get to the plug!!!!!

'kin typical.

Am I just a fud or is there an easy way?

Thats odd....you using any different petrol or anything?
That your first time out in that kinda weather with that bike?

I ask cos im doing 150miles a day on my k5 regardless of weather....and its mostly ****ing down. No probs so far like you describe.
As already stated get your dealer to fix it...its still under warranty...and afaik plugs are covered. Especially if you dont let on you have a clue whats wrong with it.

If it's under warranty take it to the dealer to get it sorted.

If you want to do it yourself you'll need to take the radiator off.

If your dealer tells you it's a spark plug problem and therefore not covered under warranty argue with them. It's classed as water ingress and it is covered under warranty. (I found out after I paid to get it fixed... doh! )

Wet plug & HT lead!
Now sorted with the aid of a rag & the missus hairdryer!

Cheers guys.

Was actually very easy to take radiator & horn off to get at the plug.

Bike no longer sounding like a Massey Ferguson!

I had a similar, though less long term incident the other night.

2 miles from work, stopped at lights and all is fine. Go to pull away (with every considerate car 2mm from my number plate) and the bike died.

Stayed dead for about 4-5mins but started eventually and seemed to sort itself out after about 1/4 mile. Same thing happened the next morning when trying to move of my drive. Both times the weather was damp and the bike had been out in the rain.

Is there a recommended cure or some from of preventative measures that can be taken?

Yes, take it back to Suzuki (if it's still under warrenty,) if not, fit a front fender extender... Loads of people do 'em, I got mine from Pyramid Plastics (http://www.pyramid-plastics.co.uk/svk/Page_1x.html)... Well worth getting on anyway IMHO
