12v power socket?

I need to fit one, but I want a rubberised/waterproof one with a sealing cap. for when it's not in use.

Can anyone recommend a source and do I need to fit any fang danglies (fuses/resistors) in the line to the battery :?:

http://www.maplin.co.uk is where i got mine, well i went to the shop but close enough.

I've not fitted a fuse dangley, but should really get arround to it, however any equiptment i use on it is fused.

I have one under my rear seat. I put a 5a fuse inline to the batter along with a switch. Used to use it for the pump for my airbed.

I saw the one in Maplins, but wasn't sure if it was the whole kerbuggings or just the outer sleeve.

I did the same, put it under the rear seat and got it from maplin. Heated socks work great :roll: . Definitely worth putting a fuse in somewhere between it and the battery.

Maplins is probably easiest. An in-line fuse is highly desirable to avoid the possibility of frying the bike. :shock:

In case anyone needs a DIN type plug/socket as used by BMW and Honda (I believe), they can be got here (also do the standard ciggy lighter types)

A din plug socket from BMW will cost you about £48, from Maplins the same thing is about £4.80.

Halfords do them also. I use them in my truck for fridges and kettles

Mine came from Maplins, with a cover on it. It's wired into the front brakelight switch feed with an in-line fuse. It sits in the cockpit for easy access.

I would pop an in line fuse (about 10A) if I were you.

I am thinking of fitting one myself (charge the mobile on the way to work)
