Just installed philips bluevision lamps on the SV. Odd they are called bluevision, because that conjours up images of the stupid blue lamps the billy-no-mates hats-on-backwards nova driving teenagers fit - these are just whiter. Not sure how they perform in the dark yet though.
Here is a pic of the job half done, you can see the difference.

A mod I never got around too but meant to as the stock lights are a little yellow IMO. Nice to see the difference.

So how does that work then? Are they just a higher wattage bulb, or just something Philips make? Were they expensive?

i believe its down to a couple of things, one is the metal of the filiment, and the other is the gasses in the bulb,

they do work and are great, would never fit anything but those,

cept halfords do em chaper and are same thing, sorry.

please feel free to correct me of im wrong

one of my lights is xenon, you can really see the difference in the dark.

must get around to fitting another one in the other lamp since the old one blew...

To answer some questions:

They were easy to fit.

They are the same 55/60 watts.

They were about £20 for both H4 and the two sidelights.

I would not reccomend the halfords ones - unless you can be sure they don't emit any UV. The Philips use a special quartz glass that eliminates all UV. UV is dangerous to plastic light fittings (as in my K5) - causes them to cloud over / go opaque.

Hey Tigersaw,

Great comparison pic! Do you know the difference between those bulbs and the Philips VisionPlus H4's? And also, the sidelights... what Philips bulb are those? Thanks,

Mitch

instructions to fit, did u just change the bulbs over? how long do they last in comparrison to the stock ones?

also, do u have a link for all the bulbs needed?

They are very easy to fit - just take the triangle(ish) shaped plastics out from the side of the nose fairing, you will see the lamp holders. The small ones twist out, the H4 is a bit more involved but easy to work out.

Supplier: I got the bulbs from a guy called Rob at http://www.performancebulbs.co.uk/ who also sells through ebay. Drop him an email with any enquiries - he knows his stuff and sells every type.
The kit he sold me was the philips bluevision 4000k - all four bulbs are included.

I used them in the dark tonight on my journey home from the airport - all I can say is they are whiter. I would not say they are brighter, reach further or illuminate any better, just a whiter light, which is more pleasant. If you are looking for better performing lights, try something else.

i used halfords 30% brighter bulbs, a tenner each which is a lil pricy, but they were good, u could see further with them and they were the same wattage so didnt drain anything!
