View Full Version : Do I need to fit Hugger if I have tail tidy (Hamicad)?
Sorry, part 2 of my earlier Hamicad question - would it be wise to fit a hugger if i have a tail tidy. Was thinkin of the dirt and rain being spashed up...does it help? Suzuki hugger from what i hear is real good but £150! Anyone else fitted something else for a black sv650s which fits well and colour matches? cheers

you don't have to, but a hugger & a tail tidy are 2 seperate things
the existing 'snow plough' will stop water/crud from getting onto the rear lights and your back (which the tail tidy won't), but won't stop this being thrown underneath the tail and over the rear shock, which is what the hugger is designed to do
there are lots of huggers available - pyramid plastics, nws, etc

a hugger is always a good idea.
without a hugger your rear shock is likely to get hit with al ot of crap, if this isnt cleaned regularily then the life of your rear shock could be shortened.
the £150 suzuki is a good fit and that price is colour matched, i have a suzuki one and it looks great and does what it says on the tin,
try the bodywork section of the forum, there are loads of posts on there regarding preferences for different brands

I've got the Hamicad but no hugger as I don't like the look of them (sorry those who have them ;-) )
I don't find the shock get's too dirty as the little plastic cover thing keeps it pretty clean.

I've got an ermax hugger - colour match on the yellow is spot on, though I dislike the fact that the rear brake hose guide is just left cable-tied to the swingarm - guess the official Suzi one does it properly, but it's not been a problem apart from looking a bit naff. Anyone found any better solution to this?
I'm planning on getting a Hamicad soon - if I have a hamicad with the hugger, will there be road muck flying up onto my back? I do about 400 miles a week in all weathers, so this is something I'm keen to find out before I chuck the snow plough.
where did u get the ermax from? cheers james

As has already been said, you don't have too... You will notice more dirt getting flicked up than you had with the 'snow plough' fitted - but in the interests of vanity, it's just a bit of muck... It'll give you an excuse to clean it more
If you fit a colour-coded undertray, it's a must - otherwise the undertray will be stone-chipped to hell in no time :!:
I've just fitted a carbon look Pyramid hugger to mine, looks good, removing the small piece of plastic that protected the shock really sets the yellow shock off with the black bike. I must say that I was a bit ****ed off when I fitted it that it relied on two zip ties though, £60 and fitted by zip ties, whats all that about then??????
Now just waiting for my tail skirt to arrive from Busters and hopefully should have it ready for the St Georges day ride-out to Wales. (Probably find out that its fitted with chewing gum and bloody velcro knowing my luck)...........

Try NWS and ask if they have a "factory second"carbon hugger. I got one from them and you cant tell the difference.Half price.
Hopefully Cloggsy it an undertray under a different name, well thats what I'm bloody hoping as the picture looks just like an undertray in the catalogue...... fingers crossed here waiting for Postman Pat.
