I just accidently wacked in some 5w 40 engine oil in but a cant be arsed to change it again at the mo, would it make any differemce or damage any parts rather than the 10w 40??

I guess it depends to some extent on how cold it is where you live...

Check the API quality level on your oil can. As long as your oil is good quality it should be OK. SV650 Manual quotes API SF or SG - these are older quality grades (second letter changes at each upgrade - we're now up to SM). Better quality will compensate for slightly thinner oil.

It shouldn't matter too much till the outdoor temps get a high (mid to high 20's in celcius)
