As the title says low sided my baby on the way to work thankfully I was wearing my one piece suit.
Bike is very second hand looking now after sliding to the outside and wacking the kerb.

doh, gutted for you mate....
So sorry mate, you didn't say how you were, though you seemed well protected. That's a lot of damage for a lowside, i hope you're covered. How quick were you going when the front went if you don't mind me asking.
Sorry again, i hope you get back on the road soon
sh*t mate thats a nasty one hope you are ok? are you covered insurance wise?

only 3rd party fire and theft. so I have to foot the bill myself.
Estimated the damage at about £1400 to fix.
I was only doing about 40mph i reckon at that time
I myself am relatively unhurt. I have a joe rocket speedmaster one piece suit and it performed excellently. There is only the shine taken of my leathers in a few places where i was sliding and watching my bike smash to pieces against the kerb. My rocket gloves kevlar knuckle armour is rubbed through but again not a mark on any part of my skin.
I have a sore thumb where my nail bent back must of been on impact with the ground and my elbow has a little burn type cut with sliding although the suit has no cuts.
cheers for the replies.

Looks nasty mate for a low side. :(
When I forst saw the pics, the first thing that came to mind was Crash bungs...I know I know, too late, I guessed they would have helped in the sittuation though dunno. :?
That's a hefty bill to foot yourself as well. Gutted for you, as she looks lovely as well with the kit on
Take care dude, and hope you're ok, which is more important

I reckon I would have got away fairly lightly if the bike hadn't of made a bee line for the kerb and crunched over it. Thats why the forks are kinked and the fairing etc smashed to bits.

I feel sick
It's what mine would look like if (when) I have an accident
Sorry to hear of your bad luck mate, must say the wheels look good in white. Hope its not too long (or too expensive) to get her on the road again.

Sorry about you'r bike, but glad that you are o.k.
Ouch, very sorry to hear about you 'incident'.
At least you seem to be ok.
I hope it won't hurt your confidence too much and that you'll be back on the road for the summer months.
Hang in there,

Don't forget to get the yokes and discs checked. They have a habit of bending in accidents like yours.

Oooof... Feck... Glad you're ok
mate i sincerly sympathise with the way you feel, my curvy had the same damage after my off a few months back. Just the MOT and tax stopping me now I've put the final parts on today.
Glad your ok,I'd never go out without my leathers on again after finding out the hard way just how well they work.
As said before have the bike fully checked one back together!
Good luck and stay safe

I never ride with out my leathers, I have seen damage caused by not using them first hand.
I am going to get the bike properly checked once its built.

Gutted for you. I have done the same thing. Watching my bike slide down the road, all was ok till it hit the curb. Hope you get it fixed before the end of summer.

I think you'll be able to re-build her cheaper if you use eBay etc... There are normally plenty of bit on there that will be of use you you  You just have to keep your eyes peeled...
look on ebay seems to be quite a few bits for your bike such as the headlight and front fairing (i think in blue). Probably cheeper than buying new. The only thing that does not come up is front forks.
Probably you could do a GSXR front end conversion? Would it be cheeper than trying to find or buy standard forks?

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies about ebay. I have been on the site and noticed the guy selling loads of parts that I require and in my colour :D As for forks I noticed a few GSXR750 type complete with yokes on the there aswell. Any ideas whether these will fit direct to mine??
I have been to the garage twice to start stripping the bike and both times I have left in anger when i look at my poor baby. Tomorrow is a new day, the big strip will start then.
Cheers Darryl
The Gixxer forks are not a direct fit but they can be fitted with modification. The real issue is that the speedo won't work as it is an entirely different fit

I have access to an engineering tool room at work and I am a industrial spark is there no way round this??
cheers Darryl
Well if you do find an easy and simple way, I think you will be very busy in the future and quiet rich as there are quiet a few who would love to have that setup on here. Best of luck

I thought the speedo assy was attached to the wheel??
mmmmmmmmm might be worth investigating then retire lol :D
If you got the police out to confirm their was diesel, you *do* have a claim against the Motor insurers bureau under the terms of the untraced drivers agreement.
Basically, the way it works, is that a driver has been negligent for siplling the diesel, and overfilling their tank and or failing to take care to fit their fuel cap properly. As that negligence has lead to them dropping diesel and creating a hazard, they have contributed to your accident. As they are not identifiable their is no insurer to claim from, which is there the MIB come into play.
From the MIB website :-
"The Motor Insurers' Bureau is a fund of last resort and as such will consider claims for property damage and injury where compensation cannot be claimed from another source."
"What if the motorist cannot be identified?
If you have been injured by a vehicle that does not stop, you will be able to submit a claim under the Untraced Drivers' Agreement. Damage to property claims can only be considered if the accident occurred on or after 14 February 2003.
The accident must be reported to the police within 5 days. It is a requirement that the vehicle causing the damage must be identified as a condition of being able to claim for property damage. Property claims are subject to a £300 excess.
If you have been injured you must report the accident within 14 days to the police or as soon as reasonably possible. "
So its not all lost yet !

cheers for the info :D :D :D
Be prepared for a bit of a struggle, you might be best off getting some advice from a solicitor regards the application.
Remember the MIB is the "insurer of last resort", it is not an insurer as such, but a claim handling agency formed out of funding by all the motor insurers and are funded as a % of turnover.
As it compensates for uninsured drivers, ie those who haven't paid for insurance, either untraced (hit and run) or uninsured (identifed but no policy issued) its rules are a bit tricky and difficult, claims are subject to excesses, and they won't exactly be overly helpful, as the insurance industry isnt keen to pay out on behalf of those who chose not to buy its product. Imagine if McDonalds could send you an invoice every time you eat at home!
I don't deal that often with MIB stuff, but I can check my technical insurance guides on monday and be a bit more specific.
But you will have to prove it was a skid on diesel, and that you were not at fault for failing to see it, and not just that you fell of the bike period.

that leaves an empty feeling, i've been there as well. I know that people say at least your ok but I was more concerned about the bike when I fell off.
But at least your ok :D thats the main thing.

theres a nice auction for forks , nothing to do with me. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10534&item=7970173230&rd=1
if bandit forks are compatible then there are plenty kicking about

I know that the wheels of a bandit are the same as the SV, or at least the early Bandits and SV's are, not sure about the later ones.
OHHHHH NOOOOOO!!! I was just admiring your bike last week. Condolances....
