Just changed the plugs and found CR10E plugs fitted. I've put in the standard CR8E but am wondering why such a cold plug was fitted before. Anyone know any benefits of fitting a CR10E?
you can enjoy the delights of cold fouling
For normal road use it's not a useful idea to use a plug any colder than necessary. An "8" is what Suzuki-san decided and from what I've seen of SV plugs that'll do nicely.
For track use, a grade colder is sometimes a reasonable precaution because you can warm it up under controlled conditions to avoid cold fouling and then it's used in anger all the time so will stay clean.
Plug temp increases primarily with engine speed and ignition advance, load (as in throttle opening) has only a secondary effect. It varies a bit engine to engine, but somewhere around 10degC per degree of ignition advance is ballpark.

you may also find that the person that changed your plugs last only had a set of cr10e's and thought that would do.
