Pick it off with a screwdriver or similar, then ryb the remains off with some wet n dry abrasive paper, 800 grit. What on earth are you using assembly paste for anyway?

go with autoglym tar remover gets everything off if not autosol does well on alot of things.
As viney has said, pick it off with a sharp object, being carefull not to scratch the can. Then use WD40 and a cloth. Finish with an Autosol polish. (This last bit will depend on what type of exhaust you have fitted). If you mean just the pipe work then that's a lot easier, just scratch it off, a fine course of abrasive (I use wire wool) and then a polish with Autosol.

Some of my boot (Sidi Black Rain) melted to my high-level link pipe... I had to scrape that off, I still need to polish it to clean it up properly

i recently had to do this as i took my zorst apart again to make the seals better with silicone stuff.
As ape and vinney have said above. It works well.

my dad managed to do that when he rode mine...
he got off it and looked at the pipe and said 'your boots melted to the pipe'
i was like, er no, its yours. now clean it off. lol
(by the way, its still on there!)

You mean that grey gunk stuff that you use to seal leaks or holes in exhausts? If so, it's very brittle, I'd try and knock it off with a credit card (I've just been playing with it to get rid of the blows in my most-definately-not-for-road-use can to try and make it MOT-able)
If not, pass :) Though the liquid stuff that's usually used for seals softens up with white spirits, so that might help.

What on earth are you using assembly paste for anyway? It was not sealing with silicone kept blowing,so i was told to use exhaust paste. :x :?. Wish i did'nt bother now, it's a mess.If i can't get it off i will put the old can back on.
