As the 04 is fuel injected, the standard ECU is swapped for a restricted one. To derestrict, simply plug the stock ECU back in.

there's nothing to stop you having the stock ecu but to fit it on a resticted licence would be illegal. :(
i have this problem myself
yeah, just swap em over, but dont get caught

if u are thinking of swapping it out remeber, u will be uninsured and ur licence will be worthless,
and what makes u think ur above the law??
if ur just wanting to know for when ur licence matures then ignore the above!

see other thread, but yes deffo!!
coupla lessons and the test should see u through!!
Yes, I rushed into things and after my CBT bought a CG125 and within 3 weeks passed my test - leaving me restricted for 2 whole years...which I tried to tell myself would go quite quickly. Utter rubbush, every day and another cross on the calendar seemed like a decade !!
So I approached my local DAS instructed and hired him for just 2 days. Day 1 to get used to a bigger machine. Day 2 - test day at 2pm - after more practice in that morning. I passed. Best £250 I ever spent and that included £50 for the test. After all it would have cost me nearly £200 to have a SV restriced (including fitting) so for an extra £50 I've got 2 years out of the way........makes financial sense.
If you are riding an unristricted bike on a restricted licence your insurance will be invalid. God forbid that you are ever involved in a fatal RTC - withiut insurance - your life will be changed for ever. Even if you're not, you go to court for driving inaccordance with a driving licence and get a fine and points....(bet thats more than your £50) and, wait until you declare this little lot when you try to get re-insured....IS IT REALLY WORTH IT ??
jesus H christ whys everyone shouting at me. you cant tell me you havent ever broken the limit. so what makes you above the law? huh? punk. lol. i was just curious. im not derestricting it yet. so calm down! :D anyway im half expecting an NIP. i dont know why but im just really paranoid all the time so to double my power would just be silly. i bloody hate those cameras that dont flash. at least you know if your caught with the flashy ones! grr.

no mate thats fine
basically the question sounded like u wanted to de restricted it, most of us get worked up a lol bit bout that, so we appologise if u took it personally, we felt it was just better to tell u now that if u did it would be wrong, than after u did and it all went pear shaped, just trying to help!

i've had my full licence now, have had for some time. i didnt mean to get to anyone on the subject. i can just understand why it is frustrating having been there and got the t-shirt. if you do de-restrict it then be careful and remember the issues if you are caught. it wont just be a ticking off :!:

Yeah, yeah.
In all seriousness, they obviously meant he had caused the fatality, not got killed. (but then you obviously knew that then, didn't you?!)
Thing is, the Personal Representatives of the deceased can still sue his sorry ar**. No good just thinking 'it aint gonna happen to me'.
Blah Blah Blah.
I'm bored of these threads. Can one of the moderators make a sticky so everyone can whinge on about their own personal crusade for or against restriction, and then it can stay up for anyone who wants to view it.
Or can we just delete the threads as soon as they spring up?
They are boring, and allways raise the same points, and they allways result in people arguing about precisely feck all.
Someone please, for the sake of my sanity (and my arteries, cheers for the tip about cutting lengthways burner), delete this terrible drivel.
Dan.
if your bored of these types of threads why read them ?
I've only read 3 of these threads in 2 years on here, its only the fact its come up twice in quick succession

i whole heartadly understand ur view
but they only come up usually cause some one wants to de restrict early, and i feel that as responsible riders we should inform them of the risks and legal issues they are likely to face,
drivel or not imho its needed, after all if we change one persons mind, thats another uninsured rider of made insured isnt it!
you would be greatful of that if they hit ur shiny pride and joy, wouldnt you?
They won't hit me, I went a bit far with the hacksaw and won't be riding the bike for a few months
Fair point about not reading them, this was in mind just after I posted. Theres no fun to be had from winding people up from it anymore either sob sob :( :(
I won't read em in the future, and will let ya all get on with it.
Sorry for the disturbance (tiptoes out quietly)
Dan.
why assume everyone who is restricted isnt responsible? ive done my advanced training and my bikes never been over 92. and wont be for some time. im pretty sure some of the 18 year olds out there are more experienced than the sunday riders.
Having gone to Brands with hall13uk, Spiderman, and TSM I think people don't realise how fast a restricted bike can be. TSM also has a restricted SV, although it's the carbed model, and yet he was out in front 'flying', with both myself and hall13uk having to do silly speeds to catch up on our K4s. So being restricted isn't the end of the world.
How much of a difference did you notice James between being restricted and unrestricted?
Don't mean to stir anything but wen i was in restriction time my insurance company said they wouldn't insure me as restricted because its too easy for them to be removed. So i was insured on the full powered bike. Even tho it was restricted and i had a restricted licence!

Im sure you are right. However, it does not detract from the fact that removing the restrictor will be breaking the Law. (whether or not you agree with it) It really is a case of 'such is life' :?

Thats probably due to the round ones being the better bikes - even in restricted form!
