View Full Version : Insurance liability and Filtering.....

Just got off the phone to my solicitors over my october accident.

I was filtering past a stationary queue of traffic down to the front where the lights were red. I was going slow and taking all the care I could. However, idiot young kid in a clio couldnt be bothered to wait the extra minute for the lights to change so went to do a uturn... problem was I was right next to his door when he did it....

After months of wrangling - no doubt on the part of his insurers arguing I was filtering etc etc. - I sent a letter a colleague at work had used in his similar case quoting highway code and everything....

Just got off the phone, third party has admitted full liability. :D :D :D

Dont have a copy at home with me but its on my email at work. Will post it on the forum when I go back for anyone who may need to support the fact that filtering isnt illegal/dangerous and it clearly emphasises the onus on the car driver to check mirrors before manoeuvering.

Hope when I do put it up it would be of help to anyone else in the same circumstances....

Nice one Lyn. I don't expect I'll get through years ( :? ) of filtering in London and not need it...

You're a star. :D

i think i might print it out and leave it on display on my screen :)

so all i gotta do is point when pr*cks start telling me to wait just like all the others while stuck in traffic :)

Ooh! That's a DAMN good idea... :D

Keep copies so when you're filtering and some idiot decides you shouldn't be you can just pull up to them and hand 'em a copy...

yeah I was going to post it with you and Wiltshire7 in mind... as you both are in similar situations.

Interestingly the original assessment for me was given as 50/50 as there were no witnesses... so the document seems to have done the trick.

Im looking at going back to work 4th May so will post it up then....
