View Full Version : Hands free kits
Anyone know of a good one that can be used inside a helmet without fitting anything like an autocom? :?:
You could just use a standard in ear hands free kit but that isnt the problem. Its the insane amount of wind noise even at speeds where you think there wouldn't be any. Even if you could manage to hear them in your ear they probably won't be able to hear you.

a while ago, i bought a throat mic handsfree.
it was an earpiece that went in your ear, and a strap that went round your neck, and it picked up the vibrations in your throat and transmitted them.
kinda like that the special forces use.
so the person on the other end could hear only your voice, even in a club or something.
got it from the gadget shop, a few weeks ago mine broke, and cant seem to find another one . . . only cost me a fiver too.

Baldyman has some kind of setup but unsure if its autocom. Can you fit a bluetooth thingy in your helmet? BMW are coming up with a bluetooth equiped lid shortly or now-ish. Not that Id advocate buying a BM helmet (although that carbon thing is coolio) but it means that no doubt other will have it on the cards.

Dainese do Bluetooth lids IIRC around the £200 mark. I saw them advertised in Ride/t.w.o a month or so back. May be worth a look if you have a Dainese pro shop near you.

Yes yes, but what about when you're on the bike?

Agreed. You need one of thing things to answer the phones and take messages...whats it called...A wife...
Seriously, i find if I start thinking about stuff other than rideing when im rideing things go down hill very quickly. Be it a problem at work, or a road sign. If im not concentrating on whats coming up, BAM! Your on the wrong side of the road going arround a corner with on comming traffic....
Why spoil a good ride by answering the phone?
Yes there is that...
But what if I am expecting a really important call? But just cannot sit at home when the sun's out?
