yeah me too,
sounds good for good roads + ****ed!
Put me on the list (providing its dry :( )
There was a date arranged for a Scottish trip last year. I was the only one who went! Had a great time. We just don't have roads like that here. Highly recommend it.
I think maybe leave Friday evening and come back Sunday or at least stay one night.
belfastbiker2003
03-05-05, 09:15 PM
I have spoke to 2 or 3 guys about this and we agree that the best thing - and hopefully most fun - would be to go over on the friday evening and spend all day saturday enjoying ourselves!! We were kinda rushed the last time as we went on a day trip!!
So I propose Friday evening departure with a Sunday afternoon return.
Sound good to everyone?

guys
how set in stone are the dates?
that weekend is T in the park weekend in scotland and i reckon the ferrys will be mega busy
i would also love to come on the run but i will be at t in the park
not bothered really, t in the park is paid for so will be going there, but if the dates can be moved it would be great

08-05-05, 04:02 PM
lol when are all the loyalist marchs?..sometime around then?
I dont mind..its all the same to me
belfastbiker2003
08-05-05, 04:09 PM
unlike last time where we stayed in belfast for a night before setting off early we will be virtually bypassing where all the marches will be and going straight to the port from south of belfast - i will meet you all somewhere and lead you so we will not be annoyed - or cause annoyance to them!!!!!
but if it is on 15th it should be ok - the marches are on the 12th and black march on 13th so should be fine
Yea, I dont mind what dates, whenever suits.
Alan
lol when are all the loyalist marchs?..sometime around then?
We have a special calender in Northern Ireland. It goes, January, February, MARCH, MARCH, MARCH, MARCH, MARCH, MARCH, September, October, November December.
Yes the 12th July is the big day. So there may be a few of Scottish bands and supporters going back. Also alot of people like to leave the country for the July fortnight. So the ferries are likely to be busy. However, AFAIK the ferry companies have a certain amount of spaces for motorbikes on each ferry. So the only reason it may affect us is if a lot of bikers decide to go on holiday at the same time as us. Unlikely :-k
I'm probably wrong though
belfastbiker2003
09-05-05, 02:06 PM
I wouldnt worry too much about that - if we have bookings ready for the end of may then my uncle will make sure we are on no bother!!!! We will be able to go right to the front almost!!!!
plus with us going on the 15th near enough all the bands going back to scotland will have gone - they go back mostly the 13th or if they are marching on black 13th they will go back 14th so we should miss them all

Hands up all those who have a tent?
Looks like we could be tenting it in back gardens when we are over there - unless you want to stay in a b&b - i just think thats a waste of money which could be spent on petrol instead but will see
Steve

Wouldn't really be fair to expect them to put us up.
Can't be arsed carrying a tent and i'm a light sleeper so won't be camping.
2 nights B&B shouldn't be that expensive.
belfastbiker2003
12-05-05, 10:42 PM
Thats quite true - we will just see what it is closer to the time - i have asked ross to look up some local b&b's anyway so we have an idea of how much it will cost!!!!
If people could let me know if they want to tent it or b&b it then i can look into making arrangements for them if they like!!!

Yep - all being well and if enough funds after a wee holi in Greece - i should get the SV her sea legs for the trip
I dont mind where or what we stay in its only 2 nights, I'm easy.
Alan
I dont mind where we stay, just need to know so i can get a tent if i need to.
Paul
Seeing this is my first trip away on the bike maybe someone with a bit of experience could make a list of essential items. Dont want to end up bring too much or leaving something important at home.

The coast road idea sounds like a great plan - start as we mean to carry on for the weekend
I could meet you all somewhere in Belfast and then we could all head up the Antrim coast road - Sean and Dar really liked it last time - and then when we get to Coleraine - we could have lunch and then head for the ferry - but it would mean meeting in Belfast at about 10am!!!! - to enjoy the coast road fully takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours and then we need to be back in Belfast for about 330ish - so i can finalise everything at the port!!!
Still interested?
Steve

25-05-05, 04:08 PM
Yep - still keen - meself and Dar will have to leave like 6am!! But it'll be worth it - prob wont sleep anyways! Took the road from Cushendall to Ballycastle then onto Portsteward when we were up last weekend - loverly roads... :D Recognised some of it from the last time we were there - saw more this time tho' coz we weren't caning it!
Hhhhmmmm would love to but am heading to Donington the week or 2 after that so don't think I can spare the weekend or the money :(
Have a blast though lads!!
Rob.
I was taking a look through the check list that Dar made and I was just wondering do we need to take a strap or something to tie the bike down on the ferry. Thanks
Alan
irl_dar
06-06-05, 11:29 PM
nope, they have ratchet straps and all on the ferry, just throw your gloves over to protect your seat and sorted 8)
WicklowSV
07-06-05, 10:00 AM
Yeah - lads on the ferry are usually dead sound - when I brought the SV back from England, chap even showed me a spot to stow my lid so I didnt have to carry it around on the boat :D

Only if we were allowed but a couple of us Essex nobs are thinking of doing a w/end in Scotland as well. Ride up as far as possible Friday nite
having Sat/Sun in Gods country and back on the Monday Could you give me the dates for your Paddy/Jock rideout as it would be fine to meet up with new faces
As far as accomodation is concerned we were thinking of a family room in one of the travel lodges £55 per nite but split 4 ways unless Hazel or one of the boyos have better ideas
At this time we would probably number 4-6 but Vltn and me have been singing the praises of the Scottish roads so a few of the others want to come along
Let me know what the master plan is please
Cheers Mac [Hope I'm not gate crashing]
Yes, the west coast of Scotland is biker heaven :riding:

You can either:-
a) meet us at Harry Ramsdens which is at Yorgate which is at the harbour end of the Westlink in Belfast.
or
b) McDonalds at Sprucefield just outside Lisburn where the large PC World is!!
Where abouts you coming from?
Just A quick note to say I hope everyone has a great trip this weekend. :D
Spare a thought for those of us left behind. :(
I was trying to meet up with everyone in Coleraine on Friday, but due to a change in the workload it dosen't look like this will happen.
Hope the weather holds up and have a safe journey.

Thank Steve for all the effort you've put into this. Organising boat tickets, meeting places and even a guided tour of the Antrim coast :D - wouldn't be right not to have you along on the trip.
Also, a big up to the Scots folk - I hope we can return the hospitality if ye come over this side of the water. Think I speak for the lot of us when I say it'd be a pleasure. :)
Time for me to try to get some kip - nearly impossible when yer as excited as a kid on Christmas eve!! Woo hoo - it's Tuesday (sort of) - only three days to go!
