Hey All,

OK, got my new rear tyre yesterday... The guy in the shop talked me into getting one to match the front - so BT010.

Firstly - I always thought the coplaints aimed at the Z4 were overstated as I never had a problem. But compared to the new tyre it sucked... And I've not even tried anythign yet as it's not scrubbed in. But it turns in better, and when seeing what grip I had using the back brake it bobed the front, didn't let go.

Is the BT really better than the Z4, o r is it new rubber compared to 4 year old Z4 rubber that was a little squared off?

ALso, before getting the new tyre I have to admit at trying a burnout on the old one. Man was it easy. Not too many revs, just hold the front brake and the back lets go. Quite impressed, it was much more work on the GPZ... (only do it when on my way to get new tyres - not all the time).

Anyway, hust thought I'd say I'm really impressed with the tyre. Can't wait for iut to be scrubbed in.

Stu

The Z4 weren't bad tyres, it's just that there was much better rubber available. Comparisons always leave you wanting more.

On a somewhat related note, I just got a new set of BT014's for mine. I went up to a 120/70/17 front, and dropped the front end to 13mm (measured from top of preload cap to top of triple. Original measurement was 3 mm). To anyone thinking about doing this, I highly reccomend it. The bike turns in so much crisper now, and feels much more solid in the corners. The profile is much more "rounded" as opposed to the "triangular" profile of the 60 series. That coupled with 1.5" of lift in the rear, makes the bike so flickable it's incredible. (not reccomended for newbies, as you have to give up a bit of straight line stability. Nothing major, but not good for someone learning) JMO

My roundy model does not have extra long forks so It's very unwise to raise the staunchions thru the triple clamps as the sliders will hit the bottom triple clamp under full compression.
You should always check the travel of the forks before doing such a mod. If you are doing a panic stop and the this happens you would most likely come off.

BTW my Bridgestone fronts have never been triangular shaped, Although 014's felt terrible compared to the 020's
