View Full Version : M1 & Z6
Ive been told by Essential Rubber that putting a Z6 on the rear will match up with my M1 on the front. This is diffrent from what rictus01 & Sid Squid said, that the profiles of the tyres dont match.
Is there some problem?
Hopefully some help before i leave to get the tyre changed at 4pm today.

This may be a bit late, but what the hell! I've got m1's fitted to my sk2 and had a track day yesterday. i dont think that the sportec m1 front and rear profiles are matched very well atall. i'm litterally peeling rubber off the sides of the front and have still got a good 5/6mm on the rear. i had z6's last time and they are a much less rounded profile, so they may well match (profile wise atleast) but the z6 didn't offer nearly as much grip. although they did last for absolutely ages!!
as it told to me several times, if you are to have one tyre stickier than another you want it to be the front (rictus01).
I have now done about 300 miles on the tyres, seem much better than the Z4 but still have to make any full judgment on them as it has been very few miles and not much to try them out on.
One thing i have to say is when it does let go, the rear it seems to do it slowly which is a good thing, that was when on major leen and the edges of the tyre had not yet seen the dark of the road surface yet.

Hey TSM,
I am going through exactly the same scenario. Deciding between a Z6 and M1 for the rear with a M1 in the front, what has been your experience, would you recommend that combination? Thanks.
I have z6's fitted now and have to say that compared to my old bt 010-020 combination I don't like them. They grip ok in the wet but in dry conditions they just don't inspire me with confidence. Nothing major but I miss my bt's. They do give way quite nicely in the wet though and power slides in 3rd are fun and not too frightening, even for an old fella such as meself!!! Just fuss free wheel spin away fron roundabouts, alledgedly

You mean you have a M1 front and Z6 rear? I was inclining towards the Z6 but now your recommendation is swaying me towards choosing the M1 for the rear too.
