Today I was mainly looking at............KTMs.

I saw a few of the newer ones. V. dissapointed with the Superduke in the flesh. Looks ace in the pics but quite ordinary up close. Also the one I saw was MATT orange  . Perhaps it didnt do it justice. Monster type tubular frame.

The new 660 motard that Cloggsy has the pic of really IS very nice! I reckon it would be fab to ride. No demonstator at Fowlers tho  This is probabl a 640...

And for aspirational short arses out there the 950 Adventure looks shorter to me. I still love that bike.

So if your in Bristol get down to Fowlers and take a look as they have the range.

Oh and another bike that looks lovely in pics and doesnt do it for me in the flesh is the new Triumph sports tourer, cant remember the name. ALthough its meant to be a VFR beater it doesnt have the llooks for me.

Sorry, this possibly should be in Idle Banter. Its a somehat pointless post. Sorry no one to chat to about bikes this eve

I like the Super Duke. There was one at Poole Quay last night. Really nice but some of it looks a bit Lego or Fisher Price, particularly the clocks and mirrors.

There were a couple of those Trumpets at the quay as well. Not my cup of Darjeeling TBH, but each to their own.

Are you getting bored with the Bimmer already Rich?

Rich I had a sit on the Super Duke a couple of weeks ago. Did not over impress me with it's presence either.I am led to believe though that the beauty is in the riding of one of them. They are a real hooligans machine. They will stick with anything in the bends and ,if wheelies and the like are what floats your boat then they are perfect! (however I am glad I bought what I did and cancelled my test ride on the Duke!) 8)

hey, I'm off to Fowlers this Saturday to collect my new ktm!!!! just buying a 250exc (4 stroke)!!! Fowlers are doing a storming deal which makes it worthwhile traveling from hastings for!!!! (enduro bike by the way, as I'm getting hooked on the off road thing even though I am rubbish!)

OK... Proposed duration of the trip is now two years - it was a year so lucked out there! Route is a meander aroudn Europe and North Africa throughout this summer winding up in Turkey for the beginning of September, then cross Iran and Pakistan and into India. Anotehr wander around India including a run to the mountains and nepal etc before heading into Banglasdesh where we'll fly the bike to Thailand - can't cross Burma as yet. From there we head south with a bit of bribery to get into Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam... It can be done and then continue south until we can pretty much go no futher, then ship / fly into Darwin and loop Oz!

As for the bike it is a pretty standard 950 but has luggage, crash bars and a Scottoiler. Luggage equates to the KTM tank bag, 54 litre Givi top box, and the gobi hard cases for the side. We are going two up so I have invested in a re-shaped gell seat. Each of us has a case for clothes but mine will include the docs as I need less space! ;) Top box will be med kit and spares, as it stands - sprockets, plugs, maybe a chain and tools - not much as KTM reckon they can get any part anywhere pretty quick! Tank bag will have all the cameras etc.

I've had the bike since December and in that time stuffed 10,000 miles on it in an attempt to break it but it has been cool, I'm impressed. Its the best bike I have ever had as it does everything really well and the speed of it has shocked a few people!!! I'll change the tires before we go but thats about it. I've fitted an autocom, that should be entertaining!!!!!

Biggest headache is the carnet issue, got to buy that once the house sale is through...

Shout what else you want to know! We are planning to bring it to the annual ride out if we can!!!! ;)

The Superduke definitely looks better in black in the flesh and is a bike I'd love to own, but at nearly twice the price of two SV 1000s it's not genuinely on the shopping list (for now).

Its no 660 on my picture... Its the new (yet to be released,) KTM 950SM (http://www.supermoto1.de/Bilder/Intermot/950_sm_black.jpg)...

950cc of thumping V-Twin Supermoto FUN

Unfortunately, all the 2005 bikes have been sold on a pre-order basis

Still, there's always 2006
