As of Friday my beloved bike will be out in the elements 24 hours a day, in the back garden of our new flat. :cry: Glad it's supposed to be a ****-hot summer but in winter it's going to be a rusty heap in no time.

So, what cover would you guys recommend? Am I better with a heat proof one, a fluffy-interior one, one that let's the moisture out etc? Got about £40 to spend so hopefully get something decent for that?

I've also got £60 for chains and or ground anchors, what should I go for? I'm planning on slabbing the garden anyway so placing an anchor in the ground should be easy.

I don't have a bike cover yet but I did buy a Citadel chain for £30-ish and one of those oxford disc locks with the built in alarm and that cost me £60-ish. they seem like perfectly good quality to me but then you don't know if they are any good until someone tries to nick your bike, do you?

oxford stormex cover, it is like a blanket on the inside, is fire and heat resistant, breathable, and worth the money, been a few threads on here about people raving about it... infinity sometimes sell them for 50 squids instead of the usual 70 odd, well worth it though...

Would definitely recommend the Oxford Stormex, I think Forest Edge Retail do them for £40 on Ebay. Also get some of those £1 locks Infinity do as they're good for making sure no one walks off with it aswell.

Yep definately agree with the Stormex option. Our lovely scottish weather destroyed 2 Rainexes within a month outside my flat! Stormex is still going strong 5 months later. Its just all the bugs that live inside the thing that make it bloody annoying!

As for your ground achors. A guy gave me the cheapest idea.

I got two normal sized dustbins, put drain pipe through the middle (poking out either side), then fill with cement. I then put my chains through the pipe and round each tyre.

If they're going to try to get away with my bike, they've also got to carry two bins full of heavy cement! Ha, ha!!! x x x

You can get Oxford Stormex cover for £45, and £8 for p+p from Forest Edge Retail, number: 01530 838 887. Call quick as I think he only has a few left. He sells loads on e-bay but if you check his website, sometimes you get a better deal. x x x

Another recommendation for the Oxford Stormex here. My SV is out in all weathers and the Stormex is great, just be aware that water can gather a little in the bottom in really heavy rain.

As its parked on a public road, a ground anchor isn't an option so I've gone for chains and chain it to a tree. Have a look at Almax Security Chains - they really don't get any better - www.almax-security-chains.co.uk.
