had a close one today, although not my own fault! coming round a big roundabout and I need take the sliproad off the roundabout onto the A2, admitely I was doing about 40mph, I had the bike fairly banked over and it was 5:30 pm.

So anyway im going round, I can see my turn off but with two rows of cars waiting at the last giveway point before my turn. One of them decides to go and although it was really cheeky It didnt seem too much of a problem to come out wider and go round the back of HER, although it was still I suppose an 'emergency' manouvre but the woman in the lane next to her decides to go to aswell just as im pulling my move to avoid the other one!

Im thinking in this time 'surely this woman is turning left joining the sliproad onto the A2 but NO she is going straight over aswell! I must of turned my bike the best part of 90 degress in about 2 - 3 metres maybe?? So instead of going straight on to my sliproad ive now turned right and im going around the roundabout again, without exaggerating I must of been millimetres from going into the side of this stupid woman!

Now this is where I lost it, I look up now ive managed to save my skin and I realise she hasnt even noticed what just happened! So I kane it up alongside her and had some 'choice words' holding down my horn.

She turns to me, sticks her middle finger up and tells me to **** off. She was about 19 maybe. I was absolutley livid!

I dont suppose following at a non threatening distance and then when the car stops in a suitable place, inform the driver of their errant ways? At this point also make a note of the vehicle details and call Old Bill and report the incident?
Not sure who are worse, those that go on oblivious of their bad habits.Or those that continue in a selfish and ignorant manner, with a whole load of beligerence thrown in if questioned?

Pleased you had the ability to avoid hitting the deck mate. :? :? 8)

I think I would have been hard pushed to not kick the door panel in 2bh. Getting the Vs off someone for THEIR bad driving winds me up a little bit.

Meh, get use to it. I had some tit drive into my leg when i had filtered in front of him and the lights changed without looking. He took my details infae I had damaged his bonnet when i smacked it to get his attention that my leg was in his wheel arch.

Or the woman who see me pull out of the roundabout after she was just about to pass me on it, (enough room for me to manuover arround) and just stops dead emergecy full anchors on jobbie.

People need shooting!

I see some guy on an R1 or R6 yesterday on my way in, doing at least 60odd down the north circular, car pulled out his bike went almost horizontal, pengs scapeing to get round it! The loon!

Anyway, erm yea london. Lots of oppotunity to take risks, try to keep them down though unless its nessessary!

Was going down a country lane yesterday, a B road from Royston to Saffron Walden, not hooning it (I don't like the road as it's too challenging to be fun - at least till I've learned every inch) and I approach a blind bend to the right (doing about 40) getting into position, when round the bend, coming towards me is a massive battle-cruiser of a coach moving fast, with the bodywork half into my lane  .*

We missed each other by about an inch and I'm still scraping out my leathers  .

Even if you expect the unexpected, when it happens it's still a bugger!

* It's wheels were technically in it's lane but a whole load of it was overhanging my bit, and have you seen the size of some these swines' mirrors?

On the plus side you skillfully avoided a prang and no injuries to anyone.
Congrats :D
It happens to me in the cage on my 1000+ journeys every week. If they can't see a bloody big estate they can't see anything.

Reminder to self... fit louder horn to SV.

Does anybody find that if you're banked over to the right as you're approaching the exit you want on the roundabout, indicator on for left exit that people still drive out in front of you?
I've started giving hand signals when I'm approaching the exit. Sort of lift my left hand and point where I'm going and often have to modify this to tell them to stop in a weird kind of way. When they do and have actually seen me I'll then give them a little wave of thanks, just before I push the left bar and bank left for the exit. Funnily enough this is only on one roundabout in particular

Reminder to self .... fit brighter indicators.

agreed. Best thing I do is to take a deep breath, let it go and ride past imagining I were spraying brake fluid down the side of the car...

puts a grin on my face because I could do it if I wanted but Im better than that to actually do it, gets rid of the red mist and I just move on to the next one  :D .

riding angry and worked up will in London will do your head in eventually. It happens too often.

Also bear in mind to what happened to someone on this forum at the end of last year in South London. He went to have a word with someone about drivers careless driving, driver got out and had a go at biker... basically the driver attacked the biker and threatened him saying he had knife in the car etc etc

If you really want to know how bad it is out there now, read my van off post. Van drivers been charged with 2 counts of assault on top of the driving offence.

trust me, its just not worth the aggro.

Great way of looking at it. While I fully understand Burner's feelings, it's all too easy to get involved in something that turns ugly and you're the loser.

A while ago I wanted to exterminate any car that didn't behave just as I wanted them to. Then I realised that they had a right to use the road too and that maybe it wasn't as one-sided as I'd previously thought.

If you don't ride a bike you really have no idea how fast one accelerates and car drivers often pull out thinking they've got plenty of time and all's dandy. The next second they've a car in their face and are probably as shocked and as angry as us bikers.

Who's fault? Well ultimately it has to be the system's. Does the car test educate you about bikes, their speed and how their needs are different? No. Once you've passed your test are you made to move on to a more advanced level through proper training? No. If the system was better at dealing with the proot problem (i.e. education and understanding) then there wouldn't be the accidents and speed cameras simply wouldn't be required.

Blame the government, write to your MP.

I think we all think that way from time to time but to act that way is of course a different matter ;).

to be honest the carbon glove thing sounds like quite a good idea, I was so angry that I nearly stacked it again because as I was shouting and swearing Id drifted over to the right and narrowly avoided hitting the curb! Now that would of been embarrassing.

I wouldnt of minded catching up with her at the next set of lights, pulling out a chainsaw and cutting her car into small pieces to be honest. If she didnt tell me to f off it wouldnt have been as bad.

Ah well I survived it touch wood, I look at it as another feather in my cap.

By the way Jabba I bought a biker magazine with the top 50 bikes of the year over the weekend, they said to AVOID the honda hornet  . The SV shamed it.
