I was on my way to work and whilst shooting up corkscrew hill in west wickham I needed to slow urgently for a stupid driver. (Usual, oh I will just pull out in front of this bike he won't mind etc etc..)

So I was braking rather eagerly and knocking down the gears when I must of hit a patch of oil or something. This caused the rear to slid and the bike to slightly move its rear end.

I did not lose control or thankfully come off, but know the bike feels odd to ride. At first I thought I may have got a puncture, so I pulled over to have a look but everything seemed OK.

But every now and then when riding or even more so braking it feels like the bike is crabing or something and not straight.
I think that this incident may have knocked the wheel alignment out. Is this possible as being sort of new to biking I don't have a clue.
Any suggestions?

check the alignment of your wheels and chain....if in doubt take it to your nearest dealer and ask him to check the alignment ...should only take about 2 mins to set it right

Check your wheel to see if there is any oil/greese much on it still. I've had numerious rear end slides without any problems.

Are you sure you hit oil, you may of just locked your rear wheel, it has a similar effect.

Or maybe you have oil on the back tyre?

I'd check that your rear wheel is tight, about the only way that alignment can be changed is if it was able to move.
