How much oil does your bike go though?

I seem to have to top my oil up once a month with about 250ml of oil, is it normal?

I dont seem to have any smoke comming out of the exhaust, so i just hope its normal. Mabey its the way i ride?

the bikes only on about 13k miles.

15k, only at oil changes, and a small amount when I had a leak, never had to topup otherwise

28.5k - gets changed at every service, never needs topping up in between.

I left it a month and put half a litre in then another litre was added by my local dealers when I poped in for a chat a week later. I park in the same spot so I know its not a leak. I'm on my second engine due to lack of oil :oops: , will i ever learn?

I'm told its the way I ride :twisted: and I should buy something sporter, but I love my SV. But this reminds me, should really go check the level...

It varies enormously. A while back it seemed to be drinking it. Then all of a sudden it was fine. Odd.

Mine doesn't really burn any worth mentioning, but it does go through spells of spitting loads up the breathers... I think it depends on how I ride it.

I have to top mine up but then I do 700 miles a week. When the bike gets hot your bound to loose bit via evaporation and wear to it via the gear box.

When I first had the bike and was riding it gently it seemed to lose a bit.

Now its ridden more as Mr Suzuki intended, it doesn't seem to lose any.

Odd, and it seems not to push any up the breathers into the airbox. Could the breathers be blocked?

Easy enough to check, just take off the airbox and see if it's blowing up them...

Mine varies. Some weeks it will need a good top up, others nothing. Its been like that since new. However, it did use an awful lot of oil when i changed brands. I usually use Silkoline, but one of the services, they put in Castrol GTS. Drank it like water! Its now on 37500 miles for the record.

Mine goes through quite alot of oil so at least now I've got some new theories. :D
