I want to get rid of the stickers on my SV650s, what is the best way to do this. :roll: :roll: :roll:

heat them up witha hairdryer or something (not a paint stripper!) and then clean it with some petrol once off.. then wash

How weird i was gonna post the same thread yesterday as i wanted to get rid of mine.

As suggested on here before used combination of hairdryer (much to girlfriends moaning "don't break it") and some boiling water. WD40 got rid of the glue that was left afterwards.

Bike looks much better without them :D

I can vouch for the hot water...works a treat! Be careful with the one on the tank...once you start losing the clear layer...it takes ages...and many kettles of water! :)

On a warm day leave the bike parked out in the sun (make sure the sun falls on the sticker you want to remove), for about 20 minutes. Believe me, having done both, this method is vastly preferable to doing it with a hairdryer in a garage.

Use a car window ice scraper to get the edge of a sticker up, then peel it off in one go (just grab the ). Should the sticker break, use the scraper to get mor

If you're removing the sticker above the break lights, DO NOT use a scraper (just your nails) as the paint seems to be fantastically thin there and it'll scratch very easily (like on my bike).

Although you'll only really need it if the sticker breaks up, have some goo-remover fluid to hand to get rid of the residue. The one I used seemed fine, but as always, put a blob somewhere discreet on the fairing and leave it for a bit, to check it doesn't eat holes in it/discolour it, etc. Also, after successfully removing the glue, was the goo-remover off.

No, but I don't like the insult to my intelligence regarding drinking and riding, and I memorised the 33/36 Psi tyre settings a long time ago :)

I have also removed the SV650s stickers, but that's nothing to do with being ashamed of the bike. I like slabby fairing without graphics (like truimph daytona/ducati 749) and I also think the K4 SV650s stickers look cheap- they're obviously just stickers stuck on. I'd not mind discreet silver plastic lettering (like on cars) though. I've left both the 'S' on the tank. Not only because it's under the lacquer, but because I like the look of those.

Thinking about it, a friend has just bought a brand new GSX600F and it has a sticker on the tank reminding you to wear a helmet! :shock:

Guess I was fortunate that someone removed mine for me! 8)

can also use a toffee wheel on an electric drill, removes the sticker without damaging the paint work, very quick as well

Yup! One on the fuel tank, one on the left hand frame arm, one by the clocks, one on the chainguard. All ugly white and orange warning stickers...

The number of times they've saved my life when I've climbed onto the bike, absolutely steaming, only to be reminded "Never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs." and thought better of it, is innumerable :wink:
