I did mine myself.

A friend had his done by motorbike-seats in Coventry, shaped and a gel pad fitted, very comfy but pretty expensive. I copied the shape but without the gel pad.

All you really need is a decent staple gun (Arrow or similar) to refit the cover.

You can trim down the foam with a fine toothed bread-knife or probably a hacksaw blade. An electric carving knife is a perfect tool (her indoors permitting).

The shape I have (SK1) is with the front and rear edges as original, and about 25mm (1") removed midway in a smoothe curve. The most important thing is to get the surface as smooth as possible because any imperfections will show through the cover. Cover the cut foam with a layer of cloth to smooth out the surface. A fine quality towel is a possible source. I got some car seat velour from a local upholsterer.

Warm the cover to refit as it needs to adopt a new shape (hairdryer of fan heater). Staple the middle of each side first then work forwards and backwards. You need to support the plastic base on something very firm (workbench etc) to staple against or they tend to bounce and only go half way in. Paint or varnish the staples to ward off rusting.
