OK, I have a 99 Curvy SV but what is the best shock to upgrade it to without modification? Ideally, something that will bolt straight on. If there are any slights mods, what are they and how easy are they? I'll also be doing the front springs and adding pre-load adjusters on them.

I went with the 99 750 SRAD shock, £12 for a minter on Ebay, just had to trim a little off the battery box but defo worth it.

Best shock without modification? Ohlins :D
Best Value would be a Hagon, between those 2 there are loads of options.

Hum, people who've tried the Pemnske always rate it higher than the Ohlins... But that's not to say the Ohlins isn't ace. Wigan seemed very pleased with the Hagon as well, but personally it always seemed like too much money for not enough result...

The actual mods needed for the 636 or SRAD shocks are pretty minimal, and that'll work out about a fifth the cost of any full on replacement. Not as good though.

I installed a WP and it's very cool (520 euros)

I had Ohlins on my SV and it was excellent, got a WP on the GSXR, which I prefer. Both around the same price fopr equivelent models. K-Tech and Hagon are supposed to be good value.

What about swapping for a Suzuki or 636 Shock? I hear that the GSXR SRAD or a 636 would be more or less a straight swap. Is this true and are there any other shocks I can look for?

The 636 shock off a 2004 plate bike will fit, though you have to do the battery box trim. I have one at home that I need to put on my SV, its just sprung alot harder than the GSXR one.

Does the hagon raise or shorten the rear at all ? I want to raise the rear when I change the shock, which is getting to the point of needing doing, was gonna get the jhs dogbonesbut want to find out if it'll affect how the hagon fits ?.....

I would expect it to say the same as its just a replacement of the stock, you could probably get hagon to give you a taller model if you asked nicely.

no, I like pie !!! :?

I'd guess at a bit of cutting on those two.... Will probably just get a hagon and get them to up the spring weight and height.. Not spending the money on ohlins etc

This is my one, comes from a zx400. Piece of **** to fit, but it is slightly shorter than the SV, thus making the ride height lower. However there is a ride height adjuster on it anyway, so you can crank it back up. The remote res' is great as well, with a quick turn of the adjuster, we go from, bum numbing hard to sexy soft.
