now my bike is broken i think its time for a new bike but which one?

I have been ridding for 3 years i do about 300 miles a week an go out for a blast on a weekend so i want a jack of all trades that brings a smile to my face every time i ride but is reliable.

The list could get longer but i cant think of any other bike that i can afford to insure. only 25 years old and live in brum without a garage.

Helps us narrow it down abit. I am sad to to see the SV go though.

Dont forget the Yam fazer thou

Top of my list but decided to stick with the SV for another year of cornering.

Fazer is a great all rounder, simply read the reports, R1 engine and brakes with added high bars for comfort

What, no 'other' :?:

Mine will be a KTM 950SM (if I can tie one down...) But I have just seen a lovely '03' Tuono for sale not far from me

It does look phone but it price tag is the highest.

The thing that confuses me is the insurance quotes on average £950 full comp on all the bikes above 2005 year but if get GSXR1000, GSXR750 or R1 it goes up £4000 full comp  how much more likely is it to get nicked the the other bikes

None of the above. If or when I upgrade it will be to an SV thou.

None of the above.

My short list:

Honda Hornet 900
Honda CB1300
Yamaha Fazer 1000
Kwak Z750 (the insurance friendly, budget option)
Suzuki SV1000S

I think it would have to be the Fazer 1000 over the CB1300 (but it's close).

I'll be looking in a couple of years as I've still got much to learn on the current bike. An updated Hornet 900 might squeak it, though - current one is very underrated.

I'd check out the Fazer thou, RSV-R, Superduke and 636 if I was looking for a new bike tomorrow... But if it's to be an outside bike I'd almost certiany go with the Fazer- not that it'd fare any better in the cold and wet but it's far less likely to get nicked. The insurance might not be higher for the others but the 636 and duke in particular are going to be targets for thieves...

Also, I think the Superduke's sold out for this year? Could be wrong...

All great bikes in your list though.

Yeah - it can be unpleasant, especially if you're wearing a non-breathable one-piece waterproof oversuit. If it's a problem for you then you're best talking to your pharmacist, IMHO

But seriously, the wind-blast above an indicated 85-90mph on my bike is one reason I still have a clean licence. I've been over the ton quite a few times and been over 120mph once or twice (on a private track, Officer) and it's OK for a short bursts but I couldn't cope (hang on  ) for sustained periods.

At an indicated 85mph and below the wind-blast, whilst present, is not that big an issue that it puts me off a naked bike. Quite the contrary - there's something attractive about it in a strange kind of way. Then again, I don't pound the motorways/dual carriageways every day and naked bikes are fab on the twisties

I voted Super Duke.

But if i was realy after a new bike, it would have to be the new Triumph SpeedTripple (if i could get hold of one!!!)

Don't forget insurance premiums aren't just worked out on hoe likely they are to be nicked but also on the likelihood of a crash and if GSXR1000 are crashed a lot and there are a lot of claims for them then the premium for them will go up, I would imagine power etc comes into it also.

Of those it would be the Tuono but I'd rather a new Speed Triple =P~

If you doing fairly hefty mileage then the Aprillia has to be a no no.

Uut of the list I'd go for 636 then KTM SuperDuke - but have you ridden the KTM - you might not like the riding poisition - but I suppose that's true for all others. I think you'd find the 636 is more comfortable than you might expect from a SS, especially if you go for a K5 model. R6 on a commute - not sure, definately not the CBR600RR - to tilted forward for everyday riding. I'd have to agree with some other comments here though - I'd try the Fazer thou or Sprint. One not on your list, and probablt if you read the reviews on the Sprint you might discount this bike, but Honda VFR, been riding my mates new one and am really impressed, the V4 sounds lovely over 8K.
