ARGH!

What happens if you are traveling at 30ish and someone decides t change lanesinto you?

Bit of bump on the front faring, bump on my elbow where they hit me, and a tank slapper while filtering.

Other than that, one ****ed off Dan, flicked the bird and rode off.

Fsckers!

Alas I had just moved into the outside lane, so in fairness I did have priority
:D And I had the room to manuover out of the situation without loosing control of the motorcycle r. So it must of worked :D

:S Not had many problems other than throwing it down on the drive, although that could change as it needs sericing

Good stuff. On reflection though dan, could you have placed yourself better or done anything different? Just asking and see how you see the incident after you ahvd the chance to calm down etc? Genuine question not a dig by the way. :)

Possibly, I believe i was in the best position for the situation*. Its an odd intersection, 4lanes merge into two, I happened to be in the outside today. I do the route 5 days a week. I had made as much progess as i could before the lights changed. They changed, i manuivored myself back into the flow of traffic. After which, this car changes lanes. So it wasnt the filtering.
I believe (may be wrong, dont think so though) that i was in the correct position, infact i know i was. It was just the car driver trying to get accross into the "fast" lane without doing a blind spot check.

*Obviously the best placement would of been at the front of the lights then off up the road before the cars, but you cant always achieve that.

This was on the A40, by homebase heading towards acton if you know it.

Nice one dan. So on the other hand, if you wasnt in the right postion, as you clearly where(in the right, not wrong), do you think the incident would have been worse or even better, avoided?

i think the answer is side mounted machine guns , like james bond used to have,
these could be set up like airbags, in that if you got a sudden jolt from fornt, rear or side the corresponding machine gun would cut the dozy gimps in half.

possibly a bit draconian, but hey, how hard can it be to look before you move accross..

this happened to me except on a roundabout (junction 10 at ashford)

bloke decided to carry on round the roundabout into me, i bounced off his car twice and he drove off with me and my mate in chase.

i wont tell what happened after that

I nearly caught one myself on Sunday, which left me terribly vexed,(in the words of Comodus! ) Stopped at lights on an intersection, options are right lane turn right, left lane turn left.
I am therefore in the left hand lane to turn left, got to about half way up the side of a 4x4 which was in the right hand lane when the brainless jerk decided he was going to turn left, he would have completely wiped me out! Fortunately blast on horn coincided with his belated look to where he was going and realisation of what the consequences would be!
Not sure what nationality he was,but I assure you my international gestures would have been easily understood! :? 8)
So the argument made for 4x4 ownership about making observation of the road and what is going on easier, dont really apply if you are not bothering to constantly monitor the situation around you! :?

On the subject of cars hitting bikes, while I was driving back from Aberystwyth on Sunday night, was overtaking a Goldwing who'd been sitting behind a car for about 2 miles. It was a fairly slow overtake because I was in a 1.1 205, but we were getting there. Just as I got level with his back wheel, the Goldwing rider whacks on his indicator and pulls out in front of me, barely missing the front of the car.

can you give me an indication of the car so I can avoid said idiot in future.... ta... :D

just in case your post incident actions have made him exceptionally anti-biker and he now deliberately pulls out in front of others to **** us off :?
