View Full Version : UPDATE: Mr Toad

Just had a message from Simon!

He's alive and well, and currently in residence at the St Hellier Hospital, Carshalton. He can be found in Ward B3.

I'm sure he'd be grateful for some visitors, as time spent in hospy can be a tad dull - as I'm sure some of us will vouch for! 8) Visit anytime, except between 12 and 2.

He says he's probably going to be there for a few more days for lots of intensive physio. The Frog Doctors did a good job, but put him back together a bit wonky, so it sounds like he'll need another operation to straighten him up!

Just called up. Apparantly Visiting hrs are:

08:00-13:00, 15:00-20:00.

Not sure how reliable this is, though as it was an operator on a switchboard rather than someone who actually works there.

I'll be in the vicinity tomorrow evening so will try to pop in for a quick visit.

If y'all mean today, I may be on a bit of a tight clock in the early evening which means I may not get there until about 7ish and will have to take my own route down. Will be coming back up to Islington after though Bill, so that might be worth considering...

P.s. Should I buy a bunch of grapes or something?

Don't know, I'll be at Ian's around five but would suspect we won't leave for a good hour after that. Best call him and find out.

Well, just got home and put some food in my tummy.

Simon seems on fine form, and was pleased to see us all (Me, Squid, Jonboy and Ape). With any luck, he should be out on Thursday!

Greg: I hope it wasn't you that I saw get a double-flash as you headed up towards the A40! :?

Nope, it was Sid Squid   . I'm laughing as he was outraged as the speed limit was 50 and he went through exactly at that speed. Hopefully he won't get a NIP but if he does I'm more than happy to swear an affi-davit to that effect. Seeing what happened to him I throttled back to 40, though the limit was deffo 50.

Good to see Simon, he was his same positive self as ever. Hopefully he'll be home by the end of the week.

Dang, there are two threads for on this topic. Maybe we should lock one. :?:

Cheers guys for abandoning me at the petrol station. I got lost again and spent an hour trying to get out of London.

OK not really

I nearly had a slippery moment on the way home

Swerving past a bus and a taxi that had jumped a red light through a box junction next to Kings Cross, on my green  Giving it all I could from the pathetic little "meeeeeeeeep" horn!

...Straight up to the next set of lights which I failed to register were in fact Red. Their colour finally registered as I crossed the line at about 20 mph with both front and rear tyres locked heading straight for crossing traffic  :help:

Luckily I came to a stop. I did have to give myself a stern telling off for that one!

I blame Emperor Squid's "traffic? what traffic?" style of riding   Not to mentioned Jon-"wheelie"-boy's approach to tackling said congetsion

It's simply a question of less is more. The less you think about it the more fun you have  .

Moi? I've only been copying the Ape man, he's the wheelie daddy.

Saw the toad yesterday evening and good to see him it was as well. He's got a ruddy great break in the biggest bone in his body and yesterday was engaging in physio with it. Impressive. Apparantly he prefers the food here than in France, the drugs in France than here and we won't mention anything about Marie-Fleur lest jealous ears be listening...

And then, just as it seemed we'd covered all the available topics of conversation, some shifty looking dodgy geezers turn up (Billy, Ape, Squid & Jonboy) and ask him all the same questions he'd just answered.

Visiting hours seem to be pretty relaxed at his current gaff - the only trouble is its on the third floor and if you can't be arsed to wait for the lifts, it's three flights of stairs in full bike kit.

Right.

A short word about the pictures.

There are five of em and were taken on my camera phone - not up to the usual standard but good enough to give you an idea.

The first is of the infamous leg.
The second & third are of the toad showing his loyal fans he is really all right.
The fourth and fifth show where some bunch of hooligans parked their bikes (not like me - I used the car park!)

On the way back, Sid Squid and I stopped off for some fish and chips and whilst in the queue I asked him what was different about the ride up to the hospital and when he finally gave up I said "well we were all naked", which got a rather funny look from one of the girls serving!

Great sound though, four SV's roaring in convoy through south London  .

"No officer I had no idea it was a 30 limit, are you sure?"
