Can anyone recommend/know of people who can do plastic welding (YES, I bust my fairing!) in the Thames Valley area (the closer to High Wycombe the better)? Oh, and a good spray shop......

DIY job with an (electrical) soldering iron seems to be a popular choice.

Do the 'weld' on the back of course spot weld a few places along the join to hold it steady then carefully do lines along the back. The results are meant to be better than using special adhesives.

Let us know how you get on.

Have tried the soldering iron before with good results but have a few missing pieces on this job. Any ideas what I can use as a filler rod? :-k

fibreglass filler may do the job, key the panel, slap it on, let it harden then sand it down and skim with p38 then sand agian to a smooth finish, probably cheaper and easier to buy a new fairing panel though due to the cost of having to respray it

If you are getting it resprayed you would do well to check out the prices first. I busted a panel and it was almost the same price for a new one. All I did was tip it off the stand and punch the left indicator through the panel, so an easy repair, but I was told the metallic paint is really a silver undercoat with coloured lacquer so matching is a nightmare and was quoted a lot of money. Check out the new price first! I was suprised.

There's a place in Reading called Plastec - they're excellent.

Used them a couple if years ago to rebuild the fairing on my CBR600. Brilliant work, I didn't think it would be possible cause of the damage I'd caused.

Try www.yell.co.uk for a number...

Cheers, Steve.

Thanks all!
Price for new panels from Suzuki...£112 each. Not too bad, I guess.
Will check out Plastec though as I need some other stuff colour matched at the same time.

Maybe not use for you, where you are, but maybe someone else.
