does anyone know anything regarding maximum sound levels for bikes for track days, specifically at cadwell park.

Was planin on doing a track day at cadwell sometime soon, and
my sv is fitted with an arrow race can . i have a sound meter and at abt 7000rpm it peaks at 108dBA, but at low revs (say 4000rpm) its 98dBA.

have read the sound levels for cadwell is a maximum of 105dBA...

how rigourously do they check sound levels? would they let my bike on circuit? i dont wanna turn up on the day and be told ....too loud....

ive still got the original exhaust, but it sounds like a lawnmower with that on...

any pointers

if they do check it then rev it to 5k instead of 7k, think one or 2 ppl have got away with that before

Hi Jessie,

Cadwell is one of the more relaxed circuits for noise testing. Normal track day limits are 105db, but in about 8 visits I've never been noise tested.

Even if you are noise tested the only test twins to about 4-5,000 rpm.

Don't worry about the noise, enjoy.

How are you measuring the noise?

Are you doing it at the approved distance and the required revs (as per the ACU handbook)?

To be honest I've never known Cadwell to test for noise although I do know that the 2005 circuit hire contracts have been more specific when it comes to noise levels.

Will be there on the 9th July instructing on a track day so will let you know if anything has changed from last year!
