i just de-restricted my bike just to see what im dealing with ! its absolutly mental! takes off on one at 8,000 pulls power whillis in 3erd gear! abosloute mental! i cant belive you guys ! mental!
IMPORTANT ! ! !
the Restriction went back in a hr l8er it was mental!
( please dont go off on one about how im meant to not do it etc, after all i did it all on my private track i have im my back garden !
To be honest, done in such a way, I think it's a perfectly reasonable thing to do - it at least means your not going to shock yourself the first time it's unleashed.
If it gives you more confidence in knowing what you are dealing with first time on the open road then it can only be a good thing. The main danger I figure in having a bike you got used to suddenly being, in effect, a strange bike is either over-confidence or nervousness.
Both can be as bad as each other.
Ok, so you figured it as being mental - but was it also fun?
yeah ,know what u mean i haveny been on a bike for 12 yr and just out yest [no restrictors btw] its mental up to about 90 in no time and the acceleration ,brown trousers or what  what a noise/feeling and thats me taking it easy,in the right hands[not mine]itd b a weapon
8,000 pulls power whillis in 3erd gear!

...takes off on one at 8,000 pulls power whillis in 3erd gear! abosloute mental! i cant belive you guys ! mental!
There is absolutely no way on God's earth that the SV power-wheelies in third gear. Let's be very clear about that.
Now I've had the front come up three feet in fourth at 90 - but that required a large crest in the road and was not the SV's power.

tend to agree, i weigh 9.5 stone and the bike doesnt really want to wheelie in 2nd on the throttle nevermind 3rd, then again you might have a sprocket the size of a dinner plate on the back wheel

it so can ! ! !
im not talking about mega high virtical whillis hear!
its more of a 1/2 - 1 foot! and for me coming from a 33 BHP no hope in geting the wheel over 2 " by useing the power, that is masive! ! !
PS sorry for my appalling English!

lol,
it probably feels like about a foot in the air but is actually about 1 cm off the ground..or maybe the forks just fully extending..hahah!
suzsv650
23-05-05, 09:58 PM
never thought about that ! it was definatly a lil bit in the air as it would woble a lil bit when it landed
but your probably right as i dont usealy do whillis and it probably seems a lot more than it actuly is !
stil did a lil one tho  :laughat:
it so can ! ! !
It so can't!
im not talking about mega high virtical whillis hear!
The only thing it may be doing is extending the front suspension as the rear compresses under power.

SV...You remind me of when I was a wee boy of 17 on my 250 Kawasaki! I got so excited after running it in and took it to 7'000revs for the first time! One of my more experienced pals told me to just wait until I hit 10k for the first time! Ah such innocent memories! 8)

Nice. My mate had one of them. Another had an RD250 (coffin shaped tank, ironic as he killed himself on it), and another who had an X7 (how he didn't kill himself on that I'll never know). I was a 4-strokie and stuck with the Honda Super (or was it wet) Dream. Slower but solid (still lots of them around).
Ahhhh............ those were the days

Aaahh....memories indeed! Sold loads of 'em, plain or with all the bolt-on bits, but mostly the later ones though, with the stainless steel dinner plate that was allegedly a brake disc....except when it got wet!
The 250 was fun, but the 400 was FAST!! Now that one I really loved...

Won't power wheelie, but it will wheelie off the clutch in third, which is sounds like is what happened here- on a gear change, right?

Ha ha. A 250? What, were you LOADED or what? I had an Yamaha RXS100. WITH energy induction. Jesus. That energy induction technology kicked ass. At about 7,500 revs you felt a mild acceleration. In second. And third if the wind was right.
How I didn't highside that bad boy I dont know.
OP'er, take it easy big boy. Because, it actually is a mystery to me how I managed to not be killed off my first bike. And I had a lot less to play with... I think my tally was two volvos, one car unknown, one JCB, and one cop car. And misc hedges and ditches. And a foot path doing about 50. I think that was it. More or less.
I am only saying this, cause a friend of mine bought a FZR1000exup and so thoroughly scared the crap out of himself he sold it and never drove again. Not cause I am a pussy or anything.

Jonboy...I am envious as you owned an S1. I was the very proud owner of one of the first KH250's. With the mentioned disc brake up front, but plain looking tank with a candy pinstripe.
I really loved that bike though and rode the a+s of it, as you do(did) when you knew no better! Did you do the cutting of a couple of inches off each baffle bit? Nice litle change to the sound! 8)

17th birthday, swops fizz1e (DX even) for an old the Hustler wow now you talking learner power. What a pity they eventually restricted learners to 125s. Most of my rich mates back then were on GTs or CBs. I had passed my test and moved on before the next lot came out with the X7s and LCs. Nobody would be seen dead on a superdream.
Ha ha. A 250? What, were you LOADED or what?
Nope, just blew all my hard-earned savings on a used one.
Because, it actually is a mystery to me how I managed to not be killed off my first bike.
Yes I've had very similar thoughts! I once had a pillion onboard (illegally naturally) and sadly hadn't heard of counter-steering and had trouble with this sharpish bend in North Finchley whereby I hit and bounced off the side of an E-Type Jag which left me on crutches for a couple of weeks. So if the owner of that car is out there, I'd now, rather belatedly, like to apologize   .
Did you do the cutting of a couple of inches off each baffle bit?
No I didn't know you could, why the hell didn't you tell me?!
Ah them were the days...
I always desperately wanted one of these, but thankfully I never got one or else I can assure you most sincerely I wouldn't be here:

Jonboy! You star! What a feast for the eyes....what a boost to the adrenal system! I rode a couple...I'm still here (just!). But, IMHO, if the H2 was awesome, the H1 (500) was totally buttock-clenchingly terrifying - particularly the early ones. It was something to do with a light-switch power band that ranged from nothing for most of the time up to an awful lot just when you least expected it. And a frame with a hinge in the middle. And steering meant for Yankee boulevards and multi-story carparks..."The Triple with the Ripple" as I remember!
Thanks for the memories!
I believe Rictus used to own an H1, all those Kawasaki triples used to make the most amazing sound ever. Here's some more eye-candy:
