Idle Speed.....

On the SV it should be 1500rpm when warm... what should it be on an IL4?? My GSXR is set at 1000rpm when warm....

Is this right, or should i up it to 1500??

Cheers peeps. :D

Sounds OK to me.. my old CB400SF would idle at just over 1000. Some bikes differ... I always worked on the system that if it not so low that it stalls or so high it sounds like its have its nutts rung then thats fine.

When warm, my Hornet idles at about 1250-1300rpm - bang on the handbook setting of 1300 +/- 50 rpm.

IL4's are usually between 1000 and 1200 on idle. Big cruisers are really low at around the 800 mark normally. The SV is around the 1200 mark. 1500 is quite high i think. I can pull off at around that if i'm careful not to stall.

"I think" that if that's what your bike is at then there's something wrong

I think that the idle speed is related in some way to engine/piston size, i.e. larger pistons have more momentum and are better suited to lower idle speeds (at which smaller engines/pistons would stall). Just a theory, though

Idle for a pointy should be 1300rpm, +or - 50rpm.

GSXR 750 should have tickover set at about 1250-1300.

u have to adjust the cable that pokes out of the left side of the bike with the philips screwdriver on the k4

I have a K1 (It says so in my Sig)

The K4 was a big change from the K1-3's

But thanks anyway... i know roughly where to look... just need a haynes manual... last time i tried to remove a fairing without one.. i missed 2 screws and cracked my fairing (on my SV)...
