I'm curious....
personally, the original reason for me was speed, but i'm getting older now and i find myself taking longer to get to my locations. Not because my roadcraft is getting worse, far from it, i feel more fluent now than i have ever, maybe my sense of what is enjoyable has changed.....maybe its an age thing....anyway try and be as honest as possible and lets see if your answer is a reflection of your age.
there's no 'all of the above' option. If there was, i would have ticked it.
ditto ^^^^^^
all of the above...

Me three. (not that i've started riding yet) but my main reasons for deciding to get a bike are #1 -> 4. U kinda hit the nail right on the head
Yep, all of the above, although i chose speed becuase its the closest factor to what i like.
I love the fact you get to speeds faster than everything else, 0-60 in 4 secs, youve saved yourself 8 seconds than if you were driving say a corsa or other car that i might be able to afford at my age

sometimes i prefer 12 (or 16 for my car ) warm dry seconds to 4 cold wet ones... but not often.
It's the tight leather jeans that does it for me!

and a squeaky voice?
Its more the people that you meet than anything else to do with the bike iteslf. I have over the few years i have been riding met some fantastic people that i know i will be long term friends with. Stepping away from the bike for a while, i realised that i dont actaully miss it. But if i had to step away from the people, then, that i would miss!

Mainly 3 and a bit of 4 - it's about the only area of my life where I want to look (more or less) right... It's also a bit about being more exposed to the environmnet/open air than stuck in a car.

i agree with everyones opinion up to a certain point (except the leather jeans  )
my point is, however, there must be 1 aspect that you cherish above the others e.g. if your answer is speed then i expect you to be riding a superbike, if its comfort then a cruiser style, (am i making sense?) the thing is im questioning what my attraction is at the moment, and im being pulled to the (DARK SIDE) comfort zone,

Nope... pretty much equal reasons for me... probably cos I combine most of the above at the same time... ie I find the SV and the CBR comfy at speed blatting through traffic... :D
Every day is different which is a reason no-ones put before. You can do the same journey day in day out but it will always be different in the hazards etc...
I love the people Ive met through biking and the feeling all the above reasons give me. I cant distinguish between them tbh.
Im a biker in my heart, head and soul. Thats all the reason I need. :D

Its pretty much how i feel about biking as well.
I have always liked bikes, (Ducati's and the sound at first) and used to go to bike meets and races being the "pretty accessory" (spelling?) on the back. Well got fed up with relying on other people a couple of years ago and took my test. Never looked back since. I must say i like the whole thing, cleaning the leathers and the bike, getting ready and being out there, nobody to answer to if you mess up an overtake or something and being able to go fast if you want and can hold on in my case. And to be honest i also like men in leathers
And to be honest i also like men in leathers
nothing to be ashamed of... quite often spend the time walking down the road eyeing up the guy in leathers as much as the bike... :D

My dad and uncle are both bikers so I grew up around bikes. Guess its in my blood.

When I was a kid I grew up near Lydden racetrack and we used to catch a bus out there and climb through the hedge to watch the racing.I must have caught the bike bug then.

found my independance on 2 wheels as a kid. Then got into cars but the ridiclous traffic and crap drivers made me think bikes again. That was a year ago now.
Oh how i kick myself that i wasted so many years in cars.
So all of the above and one more..... freedom. :D
Glad that you recent off hasnt made you go away from bikes altogether, sounds like you wanna remain on a bike but not sure about your cred if you go from one style to another.
I say bugger all that thinking. Whatever bike you are riding you'll get a nod from me. ;)
You coming on the anual ride btw? sorry if youve already been asked but i dont get on here as often as i used to.
Dunno what it is.......... many things:
1. The cameradarie
2. The feeling of freedom
3. The fact that you're part of the environment and not just passing through it
4. Man and machine working together (cars are a bit sterile these days)
5. Best of all - the acceleration........... wheee

I voted Control, but I suppose all would have been a better option :P
Biking and Bikers are just different,
Where else could you walk up to a total stranger and start a conversation without being classed alongside paedophiles and the Roy Croppers of this world :P
Where else could you start talking to a bloke and his bird? without getting a thick ear :P
And women look good in tight leathers too :D

Amen to that, brother :D
damn... been oggling pics of a hunky biker in leather all evening after this thread.....
some men were just made to wear leather and hes one of them :D :D
hmmm if I make it to the ride out it will be via Northampton so I may be in leather for that rather than my usual goretex... :D
see if you make that generalisation when you seen me in leather
Couldn't tell you why I enjoy biking so much... I just do 8)

For me, the one thing i love about it has changed over the yrs...(all 4 of them)....
atr 16 it was the freedom......
at 17 it was the speed
at 18 it was the riding in the sense of "im actually riding an sv650 :D "
at 19 it was the "getting riding right" becming fluid and a good rider to feel safe...
and at 20, its a fasion acessory.....
all of these are amongst other things..... freedom came with all of the above and along side at 16 the freedom it was seriously cool to have a bike aswell....
Im looking forward to the day i get another bie to commute on..i quit commuting on the bike about 2 yrs ago...and now i realise thats what i miss the most...setting of on a journey..me and the bike...even if its just to work..getting there...even **** wet through....and hearing the rumble and the ticking of thje exhaust......... thats what made it for me. and i look forward to that again sum day.....

When I wanted to buy a "grunt car" my Mrs had a problem with me spending £30k on a Beamer M3 or an Evo VII. Chating to some of the guys I worked with (both bikers) I realised that I can get more thrills at 60mph than I can at 120mph in a car; so I took my DAS.
When I think about why I ride a bike now, I think of the friends I've made, the places I've been and the fun I've had. I also think about how more convenient it is than taking the train to work (in fact I hate taking the train now).
So I guess to me it's about the social side of the hobby, and the ability to travel through traffic, so it's never a problem. In the right time and place I enjoy riding fast and having "fun", I think that the adrenalin rush of really fast acceleration has to be experienced to be believed.
Yeah, that's it... just over 3 seconds 0-60, and to over a ton like exocet missile.....

I'd have to go for all of the above as well, though one of my major enjoyments is being part of the environment I'm travelling through. I don't watch the world go past in a little box, I move through it.
