View Full Version : Heat rash

Wondered if anyone has any advice on this *****ly problem? (maybe some of you have experienced it yourselves?)

I always wear my Spada Permertex armoured biking trousers whenever I go out on my bike. They have an inner lining - it's that shiny thin stuff you sometimes get inside duffel coats / jackets etc (non-biking).

Anyway, I'm getting a rash on my leg which I'm 99% sure is either a heat rash or a rash from sweat build up (sorry for the details).

Am I supposed to wash the inners? or Am I supposed to wear a thin cotton-type under-trouser thingy under my proper bike trousers?

or I could just wear jeans [-X

any advice / comments gratefully received

Thanks all

I thought initially mine could be insects or somewhat that have got into the lining after going on a camping trip - I haven't washed the linings of my trousers for a while, I will do it and report back!

maybe allergic reaction? i think them cotton under-trouser would get rid of it...

Cotton or silk long-johns sound like the best solution.

Heat rash/*****ly heat... Take some anti-hystamines (Zirtec etc), that should prevent the symptoms re-occuring ;)

I thank you :takeabow:

.....Take some anti-hystamines (Zirtec etc).....

'Zyrtec may cause dizziness or drowsiness'

Perhaps not the best combination when taking the bike out for a spin!

Yeah, wash the linings... even if it says "no washing" etc. then you can still wash stuff in a bath of lukewarm water with a little baby shampoo... I do this with jackets and trousers - both leather and fabric - which have "no wash" warnings on.

Talcum powder also helps, and the monkey butt stuff is probably mostly just talc anyway :D

the linings are probably not as breathable as the manufacturers claim.

i wear a thin pair of ron hill leggings under my trousers this stops you sweating as much and keeps your legs nice and dry.

a side effect though is that you look like Nuryev when getting dressed....

small price to pay for being comfy methinks....
