View Full Version : A real issue - should Billy get a new lid?
Okay, so the saviour to all our causes, Joe - Itching2Go, has offered me a good price on the following XR1000 lid:

http://www.bikingdirect.com/shoei/xr-1000/kagayama-tc1.JPG

My current lid, a Shoei Raid is a good lid, but after a couple of years of constant use is getting a little tatty. It doesn't fit as well as it used to, and though it's not heavy, it's a lot heavier than the XR1000.
There aren't many XR1000 patterns that I like, which is a shame, as it's a great lid. However, the Kagayama rep is a nice bit of kit. This red version is the TC1, while the one we see on the track is a the TC2 (in blue).
I think the red is much more my colour!
So... what do you think? Should I be a tart and consider it at the end of this month? Or should I pick a different one? Or should I just not bother!
Get it... get it... get it....
Cos i wanna see one and see if i like it enough to get one...

Nice helmet. I have an XR1000 which Im very happy with. My only concern is that the style police may not like red lid, blue bike.....

I agree entirely!
However... the plan, following last years imposed familiarity with the tarmac, is to give the bike some new clothes in a very similar flavour red to the lid above. It's just a case of a) finding the time, b) getting the paint and equipment sorted and c) being without the bike for a few days/week or so.
Anyway... I couldn't buy a tart's lid, and not keep within the laws set out by the style police, could I? ;)
no, red and blue don't go...

Get it and paint the bike to match :D

As long as the riders kit goes... it doesn't matter about it matching the bike...
I have a blue/white gixer and red/black kit...

Bollox.
I've got a red bike and all my kit is mainly blue, black and white. It doesn't matter in the slightest. If you like the red lid Billy you go for it.

You feel quite stongly about this, I can tell
If it's as comfy as the Raid II I'd say go for it...

Well... considerably more comfy than the RAID... generally a better fit for me, and an excellent fit overall - happily squeezed into a Large on the XR1000, whereas my RAID is an XL

I should get to see my old lid tomorow - I'm not sure if it hit the ground or not - time to decide whether I need a new one :D

Si - the fact that it's been out of your sight and transported back to the UK would lead me to the suggestion that you should consider a new one anyway - and include it as part of your insurance claim.
