Hope everyone got back OK from Stow?

Had to leave early because I arranged to meet someone later on, and we were riding a little slow. Didn't realize what time it was.

Jelster, cheers for organising this. I know it was hard work with such a large group. 8)

I've posted a photo in the other section. Small image sorted out so should be OK on 56K.

Just this minute got home. I have the (somewhat dubious) honour of being the slowest rider on the rideout!!!

HUGE thanks to Simon for waiting for me.

And on the way back I lost John and Daryl & Nicola at Evesham. It used to be a sleepy little place, now it's all ring roads and roundabouts.

Off to soak in the tub!!!

Yep, brilliant ride...350miles door-to-door and all in 9hrs :? Very sore bum/thighs/groin and wrists :( Sorry we missed you Mark....man you are hardcore( saw you going past us on the A40)
I did't get to see many people other than the essex foursome I rode with.
Just one comment about the rideout though...perhaps a stop after and hour/ hour thirty rather than 2h20min would have been better...just an observation though

What a bloody Great day out. A fine turnout of people too :D

Firstly may i thank Jelster and crew for an excellent day out and to all un-offical helpers that stopped on corners and pointed limbs in the right direction so all of us wouldn't get lost.

I met some great folk, but many thanks to Ettienne & Charl for letting me tag along as RizlaSv's deputies on patrol...

Cheers for a great day

We did out best to find you lot again, but decided to make our way to Stratford for the rest of the day.

Thanks to everyone who organised the day :notworthy:
Some absolutely brilliant roads, and great set of people to match

I would like to say thanks to Leigh (Baldyman) as after the initial couple of scouting trips he pieced it all together at the end.

Greg, Simon and Ian, cheers for the help.

And thanks peeps for turning up, it wouldn't have been the day it was without your company...

Oh and big it up to Rictus, the man can hardly walk, has a broken shoulder and still made it to Burford. Man you are made of better stuff than me.

Who else got BOTH wheels off the ground on the hump back bridges  (I did, I did)

And cheers to Steve H for the company on the ride back. Now you can keep up I guess we wll have officially stop calling you "Slow Steve"

I never saw Jonboy to have it out with him about truck drivers :D

Good day had by me and thats what counts, 320 miles from home to the pub.

Keith SV was panicking about the rain, there wasnt any, till I got home and stopped off for a well deserved 4 pints of Marstons Pedigree.

Sid Squid owes me a pint of Babycham :P after showing him my squared off Z6, thats what happens to Metzelers when you ride like a wuss :D

Thanks to everyone :D Thanks to those I have met before, thanks to all those who I didnt speak to,

Ok the serious post.

Thanks to the organisers. Jelster and Baldyman. Thanks to Big Ape who made a fantastic camp(not in a gay way, although that hair  ) host.
Thanks to Raf, Squid, JonBoy and Si again for junction marking, and all the other junction markers as well (see it does work :D)

And finaly to everyone that made the effort to turn up on the ride. Its all about you lot, and its what you make it. It all went off without incident which for a 50+ rideout that isnt officaily organised, is very good.

Big up to Irl-Daz for make the journey over form Ireland, and for all those that traveled a distance to get there.

Some awards

Comedy tent award goes to JonBoy
Comedy hair award goes to BigApe
Insaine/dedicated award goes to Rictus (im still trying to work out which)

Glad you got back okay. I tried to find an easier way out of Evesham but still ended back on the M5. I lost Daryl and Nic as well, the closer I got to home the faster I rode. I was desperate to get off the bike and get the blood back into my bum.

Cheers to everyone who turned up today, and thanks for making (another) ex SV owner feel welcome! :D

A great days riding, great weather (sun shone all the way back to Liverpool), and well organised. Thanks especially to all of the corner markers! They managed to keep us all together despite the best attempts by car drivers and horses! One question though: Where were you when I really needed you? :?:

Same again next year?

Ps Thanks to the people with ti Akrapovic systems for reminding me how great my Sv sounded. Makes me wish I had have kept it! The sound today was incredible! Nowt sounds better than a V twin! Apart from a Benelli Tornado with an Arrow race sytem on it. :P

Yep have to agree with what has already been said  I did enjoy today very much (some of those roads have to be given a second look)
Thank you Mr Jelly thats a compliment coming from you

Some things I found funny today

1) how many waved to the little kid sitting on the wall waving to everyone go by with his dad
2) The old man counting all the bikes go by with his wife ( should have stopped and asked)
3) The complete prat who reversed out of his drive (which was slopped) onto the main road and could not see anything because of the 10ft high hedge in his garden

And to mark    only you only you

home at 8pm- been in the bath for an hour!!!

was awesome! what a turn out..

ta to ceri for helping me put up my tent.
lee for making me laff in the pub with his gay antics!!

and sid squid for reminding me of my wife all night with his snoring from the next tent ...!!

Cheers to Rich and Anne for the company to the mfourty something or other before they turned off and left me for a nice 100 mile an hour ride home from there on in ...!!

I think it is great how many turned up, unbelievable really and a credit to all involved but espesh the organisers....

Oh it must be said big ape and sid dropped everything and ranoff in search near the river when we thght we had a non return from the pub the night before!! (no names) empty tent at 8am and no sign!! - mention that he wandered home early across the field nar the river alone !! at midnight and PANIC!! - however - the subject in question was in the shower!! and unaware of the turmoil....and Mrs APE solved it CSI style by detecting fresh puke all over his tent so he musta got home OK !!!!!

where are we posting pics???>> on the pic forum!??

and I am having a name change - due to a comment in th red Lion I am from this day known as Quiff Richard !!!

Lee- have u any meat for anyone boarding school boy !???

Have to say a big thanks to all involved in organising it. I'm tired but very happy after a great days' ride. Great roads and great folks.

Thanks also to the bunch from the East Midlands who I just met and were great company on the journey there and back.

even the timing was perfect. Dry all day, then started to chuck it down half an hour after I put the bike in the garage.

I would like to thank everyone for the great ride. Some had doubts that the marker system would work with so many people on the ride, but it just goes to proove what a sensible bunch of people we are as, apart from one small glitch, it worked perfectly.

I tried to wash the red out of my hair with no success. Also can't dye it back to normal until I get back from work tomorrow, the boss is gonna freak

I have to add my thanks as well.
Those people involved in organising, giving information or just generally keeping us together, I say a big thank you and if you remind me next time we're in a pub I will buy you all a pint (I'm counting on you all not doing it at the same time  )
I know some of the people organising could have had more fun if they'd just been one of the crowd, but as we all know, somebody had to do it.

As for those humpback bridges, I got decent air under the tyres and under my **** the first time I went over on the Saturday (was overtaking a car at the time and might well have been going a bit quick) the second time Ceri and I both backed off from the group so we could have a good run at it with some power and bloody hell that was fun, but very scary. I kept the front wheel off the ground for all of about 20 feet after the back landed.

Big thanks again to Steve and Leigh for what was a really excellent day. The weather was well organised too, despite the daunting forecast. Thanks also to others who helped in any capacity to make the day so enjoyable.

Originally sceptical, pillion Anne and I both thought that the corner-marking system worked wonderfully in a monkey-see, monkey-do sort of way (pace Big Ape - the boy done good), and rendered maps and autoroute listings totally unnecessary. Tomtom and Quest, eat your hearts out! Actually, we really missed the corner markers on the way home to Folkestone - get it sorted next year, chaps, will you?

Great that there were no incidents, and trust everyone made it home safely, too. When's the next one? :D

If you want me to post your's then just email them to me. The photo forum is okay but the posts will eventually be drop off after 3 months. This doesn't happen on the main site.

Considering the numbers involved, it was great to have an incident free day.

Just to add my note of thanks too, sorry I had to duck out early (got as far as chipping camden) as I had to be back mid-afternoon and we were going a bit slower than I thought - albeit for understandable reasons with that many riders of differing abilities.

The sound at the little chef when we all we idling waiting for the off was something to remember - anyone capture that on a video/sound clip?

Nice to put some names to faces, too!

Just want to add my thanks to the bunch, Thanks to Jelster for organizing.
Thanks to Baldyman and his bike bitch, I know he was complaining only a little bit about how he never managed to get above 60 MPH. I hit 110!! at times.

Trust me, he made up for the lack of speed on the short journey home!

The bridge... what can I say, third time I have taken it in a week, and this time I really hit it, I had a plan, lay off and wind it on.. got so high I managed to tell the weather gods to hold the rain off for half a day!

Nice to meet some people, Jimbo, Shutdown, Anne and Rich oh and Sig and E.D, and Carsick...
Didn't really get around the group as was too scared!!!

Can't wait til the next ride out, was my first BIG ride out with a large group, and hope my riding didn't offend anyone.

Those bloody horses!! the second ones, belted across the road in front of me.. What I couldn't understand is why they weren't in the bloody fields!!

Well I'm not at work and have been to the shop to get the brown hair dye.

Lesser of two evils me thinks. Getting a bollocking for getting back from holiday a day late or getting sent home for the hair.

Huge thanks to Jelster, Baldyman, Sid Squid, BigApe and everyone else for a fantastic day. Nice to meet people and put some faces to the names :D

Seconded.

Now knackered!

Very kind of you to say so, but I really didn't do anything, all the plans and arrangements were made by the others mentioned.

It was a giggle wasn't it? We'll do it again soon I hope. I'm definately looking forward to next years one, we'll have to see if we can get a hundred bikes next time
A special hello to Stewart from near Oxford, (who didn't previously use the site but said he'll check us out now), for showing up on our old yellow curvy SVS, fair brings a tear to the eye to see an old friend.

And perhaps we ought to warn the Little Chef, (or wherever), staff that we're coming next time, I thanked some of the staff for their most appreciated service, (by me anyway), and they said no problem come back anytime :!: Gluttons for punishment.

Had a great couple of days, kinda enjoyed the camping but next time I'll have a roll-up foam thingy to lie on as the ground really wasn't body-friendly. Tent was excellent, even if my nose was touching the roof for most of the night.

Was pleased to have met so many new people even if I can't remember who was who, and forgive me if I didn't say hello to anyone, I'll try harder next time.

Enjoyed the route, some great scenary and villages, so a big up to Steve and Leigh for planning the route so well. The first stage was a trifle slow but the second stage flowed very nicely and was great fun. The sound of alll those V-twins throbbing in unison was I think not only appreciated by us but also by a lot of spectators as we rode very considerately (I think) through the villages. And yes I did wave to the little kids ;).

One small little story that might bring a smile to your face:

As I was back-marker for the second stint I waited at the Tesco exit till everyone was gone when there were two straggling SVs not with the main group so I waited and waved them on quickly saying "oi get a move on". Followed them out into the queue of traffic and patiently waited behind them to once again have to wave them forward only for them to stick behind the car in front, so I moved up waved them on again even more impatiently and said "okay let's go lads", when they turned to me and shouted "er, we're not with the ride we've never seen you lot before".  Oh well almost had another two recruits  .

I'm looking forward to next year's ride-out already which I can inform you will be in Royston, north Herts.

You new to this camping arnt you, I can tell!. Get an orange coloured thermarest, short length is fine. I couldnt cope with a foam mat, used an inflatable mattress then took a chance on a thermarest when I started camping on the bike. Excellent.

a few people have said they saw him sitting in the back of the police car, not looking too bad, so presumable he must be ok, since he hadn't been whisked away in an ambulance.

Yes I admit to being new to it, so okay I'll check out the thermavest but they seem mighty pricey compared to my tent which at £14.99 I just managed to get past Mrs jonboy's budget.

and we were going a bit slower than I thought - albeit for understandable reasons with that many riders of differing abilities.

BH   how fast do you ride ordinarily then??? I couldn't keep up, I was w-a-a-a-a-y behind at the back. The pace was too fast for me, TBH.

Ed. the pace of the rideout is the pace that you want to ride it. That is what the marker system is for. You have as much right to go on the ride as anyone else, and I hope that you were not thinking too much about holding anyone up. Remember, someone will ALWAYS be the slowest rider, this time it was you. So what.

For those that thought the pace was slow, well there was nothing stopping you working your way to the front and being a marker, this allows you to stop and wait for the back marker and then overtake and make your way to the front again, as demonstrated by Raf quite well. It seemed to me that every other turn point, there was Raf marking.

I think the person that probably had the most ardeous task on the day was Leigh. I'm sure that he would have loved to have been in the pack having fun. Well done m8 good job done.

I had a similar experience at Tesco.

After we turned left towards Tesco, there were several confused SV'ers who wernt sure if they should go into the carpark or not, we had a marker inside the carpark entrance, However i took it upon myself to park across the lights directing traffic into the correct lane and into the Tesco entrance.

It also gave me a chance to light the first cig for 2 hours and 20 minutes

I was pointing into the car park for a while till i thought we had everyone back, then another couple of bikes came up and ignored my gestures, they came past me looking like I was related to the Adams family.

At one point I got seperated by some traffic lights and I got away and was chasing this bloke, he was certainly going well and my bike ran out of puff :P then he waved and shot off down a farm track.

Around the next bend I caught up again with a gaggle of SV's

Scotland next year anyone?

I'll second that!

The fazer was parked up on the side of the road when I passed it on the way home. It didn't look too bad.

280 miles is the most I have ever done in one day and I ain't half stiff today especially across the shoulders, if only I had a fairing..

Yeh usualy its me Sy3. I actually tried to drop back from the front 3rd of the pack as it seemed really slow up ther and i know from experience being at the back means going fast most of the time. Strange but true.
