View Full Version : Which bike

As my little SV is to be written off I was thinking about what I'm going to do. I'm still waiting on the details of the Cat for the write off, but my options are as follows:
1: Cat C or D, buy the bike back and fix all the damage myself, spending any spare cash on bar risers, heated grips and maybe a new paint job.
2: Buy another bike, maybe a sv1000, tl1000, raptor, or a Speed Triple.
3: Get as much fixed on the cheap and sell it.
4: Get as much fixed on the cheap and see if there is enough spare to get a sv650n?

I'm also going to get ride of that GT, just need to get the gear box problem sorted, so hopefully that should give me somemore cash.

I know I'm biased but get a raptor   It's honestly the most fun I've ever had on a bike.

What I'd be tempted to do is if the SV can be fixed is get it fixed up as cheaply as possible, keep it as a 2nd bike and get the raptor as well :D

sounds like a good donor bike for a communal SV.org track bike :P

and then you could buy an SV1000 or a TLR

Id 'streetfighter' your current sv, then get something for the commute, something nice and simple easy to ride, somehting like an augusta F4i Senna :D

sell it and buy my cat D sv? ;)

Damned, so close...

If you fix it and its cat c/d i doubt you will get very much resale value for it, it may be better fianically to part it out :(

I agree with Cloggsy, a naked thou is simply wonderful (try one). Although you wouldn't go far wrong with a Speed Triple, consider your licence with that baby!

Not finished! - Don't think it ever will be. But that fairing needs to go the same colour as the rest of the bike.

And the stock pipe needs to go.

And ... :D

I think I can't decide between a sv1000n or speed triple... mmmh.. the sv's are still a bit pricey though... as I may only have a couple of grand, plus what ever I sell the bits and GT for.

Yum! Triple, only thing is they are fairly expencive for anything after the 97? update. Best of both worlds, low down torque and revvy :D

I got as far as thinking about test riding Speed 4s at the start of this year and then I saw the raptor and bought that instead 8) Lovely bikes :D

Speed Cripples are good bikes but they're too dear and too heavy, as much as I enjoyed riding one I'd never want one, nice motor and great brakes too but you'll never shake the feeling they have lots to do when stopping a fat Trumpet.
Speed Four is fun but a bit caught between stools, it's a sort of fighter look but a sportsbike shape and engine, handles well though, and if they're knocking them out cheap must be worth a look, 'specially in bright orange  .
SV1000N perhaps :?: :?

Ta muchly fella, :D . But do I feel a misquote coming on?

Anyhoo SV1000N: Now this one I know lots about  .
Buy one, what a giggle, the motor has all the ooomph you'll need, (even if you think you'll want more it's just numbers), chassis is plenty good, and it seems to fit most people too, back seat is a bit small but no worse than most bikes, fuel economy...yeah...well it sounds great with a set of pipes on.

hadnt noticed it being particularly small and Im not aware of my **** shrinking since being on smaller rear seated bike - Ive found the pillion seat quite comfy tbh :P  :D

and those pipes.... mmmmmmmmm was nice being behind you once or twice on the rideout listening to them :D
