Just been given permission to come.

Looking at autoroute, it gives us about a 360 mile round trip. So padded seats look like the order of the day.

Scoobs, can I meet up with you as well?

Hi iffy and Falc, I'm travelling up from Soton with a couple of mates. McD's at Ower (M27 jnct 2) would seem a good place to meet. Time tba

TJ,
Falc and I had arranged to meet at Barton Stacey Travelodge (Little Chef) on the A303 as there seemed to be only the two of us going from this direction. It may now make more sense for us to meet up at McD's, then meet Falc in Salisbury. What about in the Southampton Road car park, opposite the college?

Suggested times: McD's at 09:00, Salisbury 09:30??

How does that sound?

Ian

Yeah sorry Fizz I'm still off the road, looks like the bike's gunna be declared a write off with parts alone totalling £5,500.77 and thats before labour and VAT  Looks like I did a proper job eh
Had really been looking forward to meeting up with everyone. I'm in plaster at the mo due to a partially severed ligament in my thumb but if all goes well at hospital tomorrow I could be plasterless (I hope). If thats the case I may drive down as it's only 20mins from me just to wave ya all off and cry secretly when u've all gone lol.
For all attending if I don't catch u have a good safe ride.

Have been round route again today, all OK apart from last little bit has roadworks on it, but nothing much hoping they should be clear by the weekend

I think the Washford Inn looks good for a lunch stop, has lots of tarmac car parking that if flat, all the others have gravel and the carparks are sloping.

Didnt call and clear it with the Landlord so we will have to wing it

Hope thats OK with everybody

OK we have another reprobate who wants to Join in the fun

Have arranged to meet Viney at the Ducati Dealer in Bridgwater, so I suggest that we stop here for a bacon roll and a cup of tea rather than stopping a bit further round the route at the pub I was thinking at for lunch

If thats OK with everybody

Bridgwater can be tricky at lunchtime so we will need to make sure we stick together.

OK Bridgwater is tricky as the traffic will be heavy I suspect.

Once we come into Bridgwater after the railway bridge you wil come to a Mini Rounabout, Turn left at the roundabout following signs for town centre.

Go through one set off traffic lights past a tyre fitting centre and then take a right at the next set of Lights.

Follow Dual carriage way for a few hundred metres passed Petrol Station ( esso I think ) then you will come to another roundabout, turn left at this roundabout.

Ride Straight through first set of lights by McDonalds / Sainsburys. At Next set of lights turn right

Follow road along, past Focus DIY store and then Straight across next lights and then the Ducati Dealer is on your right.

If anybody is worried about getting lost if you follow these you will get to Riders no problem. If we are split up I will stop just outside of Bridgwater so we can all gather together and then we should be OK

Hope this helps, dont wanna worry anybody, just want to make sure we keep getting lost to a minimum

Forceast doesnt look good for tomorrow rain according to the BBC website

According to weather.com persistent rain should reach the Bridgwater
area only by 5PM so we might avoid getting too wet. On the other
hand, the BBC predicts rain much earlier. Don't know whom to
believe. Overall I have more confidence in the BBC.

Maybe we should move the rideout to Sunday? I am OK for Sunday.

Home safe and sound if not a little stiff around the knees but that's to be expected after 306 miles. As predicted - the A303 was a 'mare, 10 miles of filtering.
Great ride despite the weather, on behalf of Nigel and I, thanks again Fizz, we had a great days entertainment. Shame about the pics on Porlock.

We will give some thought to returning the favour and sort out a route on our turf to include the macadam treasures of A272, A285 and the A286.

Sorry guys for abandoning you in Bridgwater. I am too old to ride
all day in the wet.

Had a nightmarish ride home from Bridgwater, traffic jam on the M5
most of the way to Bristol. There was so much traffic (mostly
caravans) that it was even impossible to stop at motorway services,
they were completely choked up.

And on the last roundabout near my house in Trowbridge I saw a Volvo
get out of control and spin half a turn. I negotiated this roundabout at 5mph.

Hope everyone is back safely.

And maybe one day I will ride the full route. Or buy myself better
gear. I came home dripping wet and had to pour out water from my
boots.

Was great meeting everyone. Thanks, Fizz for organising the rideout.

That rain caught up with me in Belgium and stayed with me for the 10 days I was away. Then as you will have seen on the news decided to make a home over the alps.

Anyway, any pics?

I'm up for a re-run of this. Maybe in a weekend or so's time. But we are going to have to have a last minute weather decision. This perpetual Surfer's rain cloud is getting a little tedious
