Long time since I was on, away with work for 7 months.
I am looking to do a wheelie school day. Any suggestions?

The closest to you that I've heard about is probably The South Coast Wheelie School, but, I know nothing about them I'm afraid ! :(
However, I do know Jimmy Fireblade who runs his school in East Kirkby, Lincs - I haven't found the dosh to do his school yet myself - still saving !!, but those people I know who've been, rave about it. :D :D
for more info see :-

But, Big Ape - can you / are you willing to supply a Bandit 600 (with anti-flip device fitted) for your victi - sorry pupils to use / abuse ??
Absolutely not........but I could show you how to do it on your own bike
Oh and when I mentioned cheaper, I actually meant FREE

You have to go to school for whellies? How difficult do you think they are?

Be interested to see what you think of them. Some friends of mine went to a school that used a 1200 Bandit (I couldn't afford it), but that one was crap. Basically they weret old to sit back on the seat, roll along in first and give it a big mittful. Think I'm glad I didn't go. With a 600 I reckon it'll be more like what we're using to riding.
I'm crap at wheelies, they happen on their own, when they feel like it. Front end mostly stuck to the ground over the Mountain at Cadwell, but bobbing up and down changing into third out of the hairpin at Rockingham.

I've sort of been teaching myself... Now I can hoist a nice clutched 1st to 2nd gear wheelie. However, DON'T use the clutch to change into second!!!
Fall down go boom.
I'd love to know how the school differs from tootling around industrial parks on your own, apart from obviously, being at a track with a guy telling you what to do...!
Enjoy.

The Southcoast one looks quite good and you get a discount if more than one goes.

OK it was £200 for the day (but you do get to use his bikes) but it was well worth it in my opinion.
It was friendly, informal and fun but most of all it taught me to sucessfully clutch wheelie a 600 bandit in control, rather than giving it Sh*t loads of revs. In fact as I found out, revs is the last thing you need. I was wheeling at only 3000 rpm. Now my biking skills are not great and I've never pulled a wheelie in my life until yesterday but by halfway through the day it was second nature.
There are no more than 6 people on the day (5 on mine) and its one bike each so there's no waiting around for a turn. Its held on a disused runway which is nicely tarmaced and about 1 mile long, so no danger of on comming traffic and only sugarbeet to contend with if you 'run off' sideways.
You get on the bike at 9:30 and if you want you can stay on it till the day ends. The 'course' is taught in 4 easy steps which when combined will have you pulling some good wheelies. You go at your own pace stopping and starting whenver you want to and Jimmy rides around (useually on his rear wheel) stopping you and giving you pointers on what to do and what not to do to help you improve. There is a cut out switch on the rear of the bike which cuts the ignition briefly if you go too far and as the day goes on its gets 'raised' as you progress and improve. It helps your confidence knowing that you'd have to be doing something completely stupid to fall of the back and it certainly saved the life of one guy throughout the day.
I took the kids along too (they're 2 and 4) and were both treated to a ride and about with Jimmy on a quad bike - and a wheelie too if they want it. To hear my 2 year old tell my he just wheelied like Rossi was well worth £200 alone.
And thats about it - to coin a phrase you get out of it what you put into it.
I'm concidering going again to 'hone' my skills one someone elses bike before I try it on mine (when its run in of course).
I know some of you out there will wonder why people need to be taught to wheelie but the fact that he runs this training day 6 days a week and I had to book up about 6 weeks in advance must mean that not everyone can do it.
In summary - me liked al lot.

You want to be careful wheelieing the sv, you can starve it of oil if you do it too long, its becuase the pick up is at the front.
