Whilst we were slumming it over crab ploughmans near Chesil, Fizz suggested we should have a re-run of the rather wet rideout in sunny conditions.

Could this be arranged?

Can I propose that we make it for early September, the weather then is usually a little more predictable than August, more of us are likely to be available after the school hols and there will be less tourists.

I would also like to make some minor changes to the route, missing out Monmouth Town centre for one.

I'll post up a new route soon for discussion.

1st October

On a personal note I won't take on more than one full day ride-out in any one month. I'm doing IAM observed rides as well, that's about one evening a week.

Don't forget Fizz's extravagansza, that takes care of August for me.

Jabba is committed during September, Hornet I know, but I don't think it's fair to exclude him if it can be avoided.

If you're a newish rider then shorter distances don't make you a wuss.
I make the trip from Lymington-Teignmouth most weekends. Did it there and back in one evening last month.

I had that when i changed from a naked to a faired sv, my wrists killed but i'm used to it now and never have a problem. As for the Motorways i'm in the minority and i love them i don't do corners i do straight line speed

That could be a sign your gripping the handles too tightly and supporting too much weight on your wrists, try using your legs and torso to hold your weight and also grip the bars less, should help with it somewhat.

Jabba
23-08-05, 01:37 PM
Anna,

There will be very little motorway for you and some lovely scenery once we get above the cloud-line

Don't worry about the speeds as the others are right, it tends to be more of a fairly sedate procession that anything else.

I'm sure we can all stay together this time around, if there are more than ten of us, we can use the drop off system, less then it's the one in the mirror option.

I'm back and so just catching up last few days but can't say how depressing it feels that this event is now only just around the corner...i.e. where did the summer go.

But on the upside it will be a good meet and surely it won't rain again (some of you may know where I have been and also seen the somewhat inclement weather down central europe way   ).

I was looking for some little english flags to go on the side of my lid before I went off, but I shall resume the hunt during september in the hope that I may be hailed as Baldyman's 'number two'

For us newbies here, what exactly do you mean by "the drop off"? :?

It's a system where one of the lead riders stops at a junction to indicate the rout for the following riders before joining the rear of the group. Works well with larger numbers of rider, like on the Annual Rideout.

Takes the pressure off those who don't know the roads/route and those acting as markers have a bit of fun working their way back the front.

Daresay the Mogs and I will will be two of the markers but a couple more might be needed. This assumes that I have a bike to ride

not you as well! i smashed my bike ( pride and joy ) coming back from wales two sundays ago 2 miles outside Chepstow. Bike in Fowlups being assesed for repair or write off, i think write off. :(

i shouldn"t have been chasing a ducati 999 at the time anyway no damage done just pride amongst a few mates who thought it was hilarious me missing the bend and careering across the wrong carriageway and losing control a falling in the middle of the road .

it was a shame really as we had a really good day, we did about 130 miles over brecon beacons and about abergavenny.

sorry i can"t make it on Oct 1st probs still bikeless, anyway you boys be carefull especially towards the end of the ride when your tired!

I may be up for this as well. Haven't been active on here for a while, I also had an off which really ****ed me off - low speed slide due to car mongs in front of me causing me to lose front end.

Anyway, I have had to replace gear selector, lhs indicator and mirror. Haven't had a chance to fix the fairing yet - crack to lhs fairing. Bike fairing looks a bit of a mess, but no damage was mechanical.

Sorry Rich Curtis - the bike was absolutely mint when I bought it off you!!

I think I will be there - the route last time I thought was great, weather was not :)
