Shark Lids

Time for the Arai to be replaced and to be honest I'm not about to hand over another £500 for one :shock:

Looking at the Shark series as their lower end lids seem very nice, anyone got any comments / feedback on the RSX range?

Looking for either a solid blue or with minimal silver graphics :)

Comments on:-

Fit (my Arai is shocking! Chin touches the front)
Noise
Build Quality
Visor Mech (will be swapping alot)

etc would be welcomed before I fork out the cash :)

In answer to your specifics:

Fit - Fits me very well (All the Arai and Shoei I tried on didn't fit me at all).
Noise - Good
Build Quality - Good
Visor Mech - Good, took me a while to get the hang of it, but now I can whip it on and off in few seconds.

It also has the facility for tear-offs if you want.

I've got this one, paid about £240 I think.

I had an RSX lid for about 12 months and really didn't like it. (Now have an arai astro-r)

It fitted perfectly when I got it but the interior seemed to deteriorate a lot quite rapidly (I'm only an infrequent and fair weather biker too) and soon became loose making the helmet uncomfortable and unsafe.

I always wear plugs when I ride so never noticed the noise side of things.

The visor quick release mechanism is excellent and extremely easy to the point I was able to avoid an over zealous traffic cop long enough to park up and swap over the iridium visor I had on to a clear one still wearing the gloves. He seemed a tad confuesed as he was sure I was wearing a mirrored visor and he wanted to tell me the error of my ways.

The thing I hated most was te 'seat belt' type buckle. Really uncomfortable aand bulky about the neck. The other problem with this is the buckle slowly moves and if you don't keep a check on it and tighten it regularly you'll be out riding finding the helmet is far too loose. The D ring is so much better because you HAVE to tighten it each time.

Apart from all of this its really what you find comfortable and what suits you best. This is just my opinion, take you time, try loads and pick the best for you within you budget.

May I eat humble pie :oops: . I got my shark lids mixed up, I had a RSF-2 and I now believe they've swapped over the fastening mechanism to a 'D' ring type. Many apologies, and more apologies for my previous typing, it really was quite sh*te. :lol:

I have an RSR and it's fantastic, the ventilation is brilliant. The visor has never misted up and keeps my head nice and cool on these rare sunny days.

Ive got an RSR race replica job and must say im very impressed with it. Great ventiliation and excellent visors as already mentioned.

I got mine very cheaply since they made too many race replicas and werent selling enough :D

if you're looking at sending £240 ish, i suggest looking at a shoei Raid 2.
start at £200, superb quality and excelent protection. :D

I tried one of these and it didn't fit me at all (bought a Shark RSX as mentioned above) quality helmet nevertheless.

A mate of mine just bought an Arai Condor which is a similar fit to the RSX and also very good quality.
TBH I prefer my Shark as the ventilation is better, although the Arai does look better.
