I want to purchase a used SV650. I want a upright ridding position. I have sat on a SV650S and the bars a way to low( I know I could go the riser route and don’t want to do that).. I know the SV560 (with standard handlebars) has the riding position I want but… I want the faring too.
Do any older SV650’s have a faring and a upright riding position (I don’t want a V-Storm).
Bye the way, how much difference does the fuel injection make and can I work on it I know my way around carburetors but never work on fuel injection.
Thanks for any comments!

There has never been an upright SV with a fairing.

The best solution would be to buy the faired version & then remove the clip-ons, replace the top yolk with a new one with risers, fit a pair of Renthals (along with the extended cables & hoses etc) and finally trim the screen down to cope with the extra height & width of your new bars.

The link above shows a SV 1000S - but I'm sure you'll get a pretty good idea of what one with the mods would look like (a 'pointy' one anyway) :D

Or better still buy a naked one which is cheaper, and bolt on an aftermarket screenwhich will cost about £30 off ebay.BTW I totally agree with you about a comfortable riding position, and I dont know why more people dont go for the naked SV.

i find the older, curvy models a little more upright than the newer pointy ones, but it still couldn't be classed as actually upright.
