Quite fancy learning a bit more about how my bike works, and how to do various jobs on it, but don't want to just wade in and end up with an unusable bike.. :) Does anybody know of any bike mechanics courses run in the South Wales area?

Not exactly a training course in full, but Fowlers in Bristol do a Basic Maintenance (http://www.fowlers.co.uk/images/flyingf/ff20/27.pdf) thing. I haven't done it but it might be worth it as a taster.

PS. Coleg Gwent do one (http://www.coleggwent.ac.uk/courses/index.php?keywords=motorcycle&Search=Search)

Check your local college. I've just finished a course called:
Vehicle Maintainance for Women

Hold on, stay with me!
It covered cars and bikes, you took your own transport in to work on.
But this year they have changed it's name to:
Vehicle Maintainance for Women and New Drivers.

I'd recommend this for anyone - I've now done a full minor service on my car, and am planning to on the bike, and I'll have a certificate to show my competance.
I think they had a few enquires from men asking about similar courses, and anyone can say they are a new driver!

Nice one - thanks. will be going to the open day for Gwent college in August for a look :)

How's the IAM Mogs - have you started your observed rides now? Having to do a lot of oncall and a bit of working away means I haven't had the chance to join yet, but hoping to soon (it's all calming down a bit).

Now booked on the coleg gwent course :) It's run by one of the mechanics from South Wales Superbikes, and is 3 hours a week for 18 weeks. Pretty good for £70 I though :)

You take in your own bike each week and they help you work on it.

Has the course started yet? Do you know if there are any spaces left?
