View Full Version : looking for new bike what do you think is best?
I'am upgrading to a sportbike, what do you think is best for me? It will be a 2005 model. :-k #-o .Last two bikes were an ER5 & the SV. Cheers :!:

Having not ridden any of them, can't really give you an answer.
BUT, i'd be tempted to hold off for a while and see what the new Triumph 680 triple (see this week's MCN) is like - the photos so far look drop-dead gorgeous IMHO.

the question is do you like 4cylinders or 2? ive had lots of 4's and now prefer twins so my ideal upgrade would be sv1000s or a tuono!

Definately a twin. Tuono or Mille, or an F4 Tamburini :D

a good 4cyl bet is a 600 gixer or cbr600rr i dont think u need anything bigger when it comes to 4cyl.
Loads of folks on here like the Kwak ZX636R. The 2005 model has a "nicer" rear shock IIRC.
Nice in green or silver, I think
However, the CBR600RR looks stunning IMHO but is a tad on the small side for me.
What about a GSX-R750? *drools*

Buy my 04 Triumph Sprint ST....... 2 bikes in one!
Other than that if it was me I'd be looking at a GSXR 1000
I'am now the proud owner of a K5 GSXR 750 colour blue & black. If i knew how to get a picture up i would do that, but i don't so i won't. I bought it from Cupar motorcycles in Fife, pe-reg to them 1k off book price. :)
ridden all the latest, prefer the zx6r for sure and not being biased, preferred it to the zx10 too, but the zx10 engine is awesome

 I was gonna say the ZX636... It's a nice bike, but 'they' (whoever they are,) reckon the Gixxer 750 is the best of all (for a sports bike :!:)

Good choice IMO.... You don't need all that power from the modern litre class machines, but I always found myself wanting a bit more torque from the Gixer 6, and something not quite so frantic too....
The GSXR750 (K4/5) really does fill that spot nicely. Just wish the position didn't hurt my back so much..... Hope you have many happy hours, I know I did on my 600...

I wasn't very impressed by the Daytona 650, though I thought I would be... The new 636 is one of the best looking bikes I've ever come across, and none of the others really inspire me, so if it were me I'd look at one of those, and if it didn't work out get something entirely different.

To be fair, I think that GSX-R 750 does look the part too, and will fill a nice little niche :D
According to my info on the web, it is too tall for me, but I may be able to grow a little or get some platform Sidis :P
I also quite like the looks of that new Triple Daytona or whatever it will be called.

I also quite like the looks of that new Triple Daytona or whatever it will be called. It's a bit tall for me as well, can get both feet down on the balls of the foot. When covering the brake can get left foot almost flat. My inside leg is about 30 ins.

Swapped bikes with a buddy who had a K2 GSXR 750, I really liked it. I found the handlebar position much more comfortable than my K5 SVS.
And that engine - nice torque below 7K , strong without being brutal. But brutal above 8K , had to let off long before i reached 11k , just ran out of road...
