Big thanks to Darrel for letting me use his back yard. Thanks to Sarj for helping me out when I needed it.

Biggest thanks goes to Mark (Rictus) for guiding me through the process, jeez I never realized the amount of work involved.

Just caught your post as I'm off to Castle Combe (can't get enough after Donington)

She looks really good Si
Hope you are going to attach that torque arm (or are you using it as a stabiliser  )
As you say, a big job, but good to have mates lending a hand.

Still there now, not not attached!

You're either winding us up or you never use your back brake. If you did you would certainly notice the lack of torque armage!

I forgot to tighten the bolt so it must have come out enroute back home. No I don't use the rear brake, just as well really.

Hmmm, nicely done (the paint job that is  ), but to be honest I'm not sure if I like it or not. :?

Mixed reaction, but I get the feeling it would grow on me. :)

its the nicest curvy i have seen

The paint job has quiet a few errors on it, paint wasn't put on thick enough to get a good finish, I didn't spend long enough T cutting it. The lines went wrong, time constraints and a whole heap of other stuff made the finished product far from what I would have hoped.

But it was my first effort, and was working learning curve, I have learnt a whole heap of stuff, primarily preparation is everything to get the perfect look. Next time I do this, the job will be far better.

Overall though I enjoyed doing it and from a distance looks good.

i like that - really distinctive and a bit retro. Certainly makes a change from the "black is best" bunch

Really nice that Si... Looks a bit retro, a bit Cresent'ish (the blue...), and it looks very different.

Only thing is it's not red

Seriously mate, looks good...

TBH I don't like the scheme- but myself, I'd rather have something a bit different that not everyone would like, but that I loved- so well done! Personalyl I'd have given it black wheels and white rim tape maybe?

Stig
31-07-05, 05:38 PM
The original idea was to have blue wheels with white rims. In fact I did already have them, but after a bit of a mishap with the spraying, I needed to do it all again.

Basically I couldn't be bothered with all the hassle that it would have taken. Wheels off, disks off, masking, spraying, refitting disks, refitting wheels. Then to have to do the whole process again to do the lacquering. So I just left them with blue. I will probably do the white rims again using white spray out of a can from Halfords.

The fact that I did not have spare wheels made it a complete pain to do as I had to refit and ride between stages, otherwise it would have been far easier.

PS, white out the lettering on the tyres, you know you want to.

I saw a black and white Hornet today that had white paint in the tyre tread  Looked brilliant, but...

The low level can suits that perfectly... Gives it a long, low, brooding look like all the best 7/11s. It's odd, I wouldn't have said it looks jacked up. Maybe I've got used to mine...

How you can tell it's done right is that most of the changes you've just made don't leap out and hit you- they're easy on the eye, because they're just right. Still don't like the clocks though ;)

The gixxer shock has a softer / smaller spring so brought the back end down too far. I used jack up plates to gain the gap again. That would be why it doesn't look high.

I am about to order new headlight brackets. The hope is to have the lights slightly lower and further forward this will allow me to attach some sort of wind shield over the clocks. Think it would look good from the front and from the rider position then.

Ah, that'd make sense. I think I high rear would mess up the look, for what it's worth, it's solid and purposeful looking as it is, it'd probably lose that a little. That was what made me like the SV in the first place, too many modified bikes lose it- mine has, I think. Yours has magnified it

I bet you 10p it looks less good with a screen. If it were mine, I'd do the clocks in black and leave it totally naked I think. But that's just me.
