Hey there,

Ive got a friend who wants to get his motorbike license and lives in the guildford area. Can anyone recommend any around this area?

I did mine in Portsmouth so cant really help out much but if someone has had a good or bad experience with a particular school that would be handy.

I did mine with Chequered Flag, based in Stoughton, Guildford, about a month ago. It's a "one man band" operation, and he was looking to move house, so may not be there now.

Training was good, always felt comfortable and relaxed. There were two of us on the 6 day DAS course with the CBT on the Saturday and then the rest of the training Mon-Fri with the test on Friday. Cost was £675, slightly more than some other places I checked out in Woking, but decided to go with this guy due to recommendation from a friend.

He was also good when the Examiner canceled my test due to bad health at short notice (He'd passed the other guy on the course not 10 minutes before), and rearranged the test for me and let me have a couple of hours free practice on the day, all for no extra money. Not something he had to do, but he felt guilty, even though it wasn't his fault.

In the end we both passed first time of asking (As did the girl who I joined for my test the next week) Me with 2 minors and the other guy with 4, so he must be quite good ;)

Bikes were cg125 for CBT and CB500's for DAS (Pretty standard)

Like I said, he is a one man band, so leave a message on his answerphone and he WILL get back to you.

Yeah I know Richard, hes an OK guy, he helped me fit my jack up kit for my SV few weeks ago, good chap to know if u need (mechanic) help with your bike.

Bloke I learnt with was Trevour @ Ridesure, based in dunsfold, actually at the place where they film top gear. He really good and pretty cheap compared to sum places. Trevors Mob No:07810640135 Tell him Northern Tom sent u and he may give discount.

I know Genesis Rider Training, which are based in New Haw - just outside Woking. They work 7 days a week and are ok.
Also Rider Plan in Woking are good.

Hm, you are not the first person who said this. I dont like how one day you are with one person and the next with someone else, but i guess its how it is there. :?

his methord of teaching is poor.

when i did my test on my 125, i had trouble doing the U-turn (i was on a cruizer) and he thought that if he wound me up enought that i would be able to do it.

but if you know me you know this only makes it worse. almost walked out on the lessons because he made me feel like sh*t

My missus is just about to take it with Rider Plan of woking, I can let you know in a few weeks time what she thinks but I guess that might be too late for you.

I done my test with rider plan when he still worked from home, think he is in Yamaha shop now. I trained with Steve and he was very good.
Hope she will have a good time! She could say hello from the German Girl
